The Wrigley is a historic skyscraper on N. Michigan Ave. just north of the Chicago River. Built between 1920-24, it is an elaborately designed building with two towers connected by full second floor and higher floor covered bridge. The towers are 21 stories and 30 stories in height. The south tower has an embedded clock face on each side and spire. It is an impressive skyscraper that fits nicely within the Chicago Skyline at the Magnificent Mile and Chicago River.

The Wrigley building is another Chicago iconic skyscraper, standing just across the street from Tribune tower. It's just aside the Dusable bridge, and Wendella boat tours depart beneath it. It belongs to the chewing gum magnate, built some 100 y ago.
Plaza of the Americas is between the two buildings.

We stopped here in a recent visit to Chicago. The lady at the desk was kind and informative about the building and a little of its history. You can’t take any pictures inside though. The elevators were beautiful. And the outside is pretty nice too.

This interesting building represents a man who did much for the city of Chicago. The clock tower is clearly visible from many areas along the river and Magnificent Mile. The architecture is great for the time period.

This is a famous building in Chicago and was built back in the early 1920s as the corporate headquarters of the Wrigley Chewing Hum Company.
It is beautiful and unique! It was modeled after a Cathedral in Seville Spain and Is covered in glazed terra cotta which provides a beautiful white exterior. At night, the building is highlighted with amazing lighting and the combination of light and the white terra cotta finish makes it look simply amazing. The building also has two towers of different height that are connected by walkways on both lower and upper floors. And the building has a large clock ( on the south tower) with huge faces that point in all directions.
It also has a pedestrian walkway between the two towers leading to a small plaza area.
As you walk north on the Michigan Avenue Bridge you are virtually welcomed to the Magnificent Mile by this special building. Bring your camera and treat yourself to pictures of this beauty!

Wrigley Building was built in 1920-1924, on the initiative of William Wrigley, Jr. The building was designed in Spanish Colonial Revival and French Renaissance architectural styles by Graham, Anderson, Probst & White architects. In Chicago, Wrigley Building became the first skyscraper, built north of The Chicago River.
The 438ft (134m) tall skyscraper has two main towers -- the 30-storey South Tower and 21-storey North Tower, that are connected by an open walkway on a street level and two walkways on the third and on the thirteenth floors. The Clock Tower on the south building has four, 20ft (6m) diameter dials, facing all directions. Cladded with sparkling white terra-cotta, the building looks magnificent and fascinating in any time of the day, and in any season of the year.
Wrigley Building is located in a very prominent part of the city, it is an iconic historic attraction, and designated Chicago Landmark (2012).

The Wrigley Building is stunning and if you are here for a few days you will be able to enjoy the exterior as you stroll down Michigan Avenue. If you only have a day here, this building is a must see - it's gorgeous!

My wife and I have fond memories of the Wrigley Building. As a sportswriter for the Chicago Daily News in the 1970s, I once joined a platoon of other sportswriters that gathered at Philip Wrigley's top-floor office to learn about a reported Chicago Cubs trade. My wife worked in an office in the Wrigley Building for more than 20 years. I used to get monthly haircuts in the Wrigley Building's barber shop. We used to enjoy breakfasts, lunches and dinners at the old Press Club, which was headquartered in the Wrigley Building. And I cashed my weekly checks at the bank that once was housed on the first floor of the Wrigley Building's South Tower. Today, it remains a Chicago Landmark, an architectural beauty, one of the city's most distinguished buildings. Located at 410 North Michigan Avenue, on the Chicago River, at the head of the Magnificent Mile, the Wrigley Building was built from 1920 to 1924 to house the corporate headquarters of the Wrigley Company, which sold chewing gum and owned the Chicago Cubs. It was the first major office building north of the Chicago River and the city's first air-conditioned office building. The glazed terra cotta structure was designed by the architechural firm of Graham, Anderson, Probst & White using the shape of the Giralda tower of Seville's Cathedral combined with French Renaissance details. The 425-foot, 30-story South Tower was completed in April 1921 and the 21-story North Tower was completed in May 1924. Walkways between the towers were added at the ground level and the third floor. In 1931, another walkway was added at the 14th floor. A signature feature is the clock tower. Who hasn't walked across the Michigan Avenue Bridge or along the Chicago River and glanced up at the Wrigley Building's clock tower to check the time of day? Today, the bank is gone. So is the Press Club. And the barber shop. But the new owners, who purchased the building in 2011, have added a Walgreen's drug store, Giardelli chocolate shop, coffee shop, fitness center and a nursing room for mothers. At night, bathed in lights, the grace and elegance of the Wrigley Building is beholden to one and all.

Going way, way back, I fell in love with the architecture of Chicago. On my very first visit, I created an “architectural walking tour,” for myself and two friends, who were also “attending spouses” for wives at a medical conference. This was before the Internet, so I was putting together my info, from my books on the subject.
One of my prime targets was the Wrigley Building on N Michigan Ave, basically on the edge of the Chicago River. Now, many decades later, The Wrigley Building still holds my interest, and fascination.
In March, I was back, and took the opportunity to study the Wrigley Building from even more angles - even though the weather was not cooperating. I had walked to the River, from our hotel, only about 8 blocks to the north. Throughout much of my walk, the Wrigley Building was visible, though sometimes only as a sliver, between other structures.
The Wrigley Building is one of the most distinguished, and easily identified of the early 1900's buildings in the area, due to the glazed terra-cotta exterior. Even on this gloomy day, it shown bright white.
I love the combination of Neo-Classical, and Spanish Colonial Revival styles, with a borrowed element from the Moorish elements of Cathedral of Saint Mary of the See (Giralda bell tower - for the giant clock in the Wrigley Building), in Seville, Spain. There are two, somewhat distinct “towers,” to the building, but probably the most prominent is that clock tower.
Not content to just view it during the daylight, I returned in the evening, to take in its lighting, as well - lovely on a bright sunny day, on a gloomy rainy day, or at night!
This was one of my “must-do” sites in Chicago, and after almost 40 years, it still is. It’s grace and elegance cannot be overstated, and no visit to Chicago, would be complete without at least doing a walk-around. As the anchor to the Magnificent Mile, it is truly Magnificent!
