This Building is iconic as it is beautiful. I walked around the building and took pictures of every rock or artifact that was embedded into the exterior walls, there were several artifacts from places I've been to like the Rock from the Battle of Little Big Horn, or Scott Bluff just to name a few, but the real gem is the Big Map in the lobby. It appears to be three stories high. The Desk Staff are very professional but please obey the rules. This is a Residence Building so please respect their privacy. If you ask nice you may be allowed to take a picture of the Big Map. They just don't make buildings like this anymore.

The neo-gothic tower on the banks of the Chicago River on the bottom end of the Magnificent Mile is a great example of early 20th Century architecture. Again, Chicago has amazing examples of every architecture, especially on the river and this combined with the Wrigley building are the city's best examples of neo-gothic. Where the Tribute Tower really distinguishes itself with its slender verticality topped by the buttress tower. It is a modern gothic temple to media and for nearly 100 years it has been the of an American publishing giant. Of course today media has changed, certainly newspapers but the building is a testament to longevity of media in Chicago.

The Tribune Tower is an impressive neo-gothic skyscraper in downtown Chicago, and it is one of the many iconic buildings that gives the city its reputation as having some of the most impressive architecture of any city in the world. Completed in 1925, it sits at a prominent location near the corner of Michigan Avenue and Wacker Drive where Michigan Ave crosses the Chicago River. The whole area makes for some great photos and can also be experienced by strolling on the Chicago Riverwalk. This was once home to the Chicago Tribune newspaper but has been converted into residences in the past 10 years. It is interestingly decorated on the exterior with rocks embedded into the walls from many famous landmarks of the world.

It surprises me how many folks don't know about this man made wonder. When I was in Chicago this May with a friend I brought her to see the beautiful gothic building and all the stones and building bits that are inlayed into the building with the places saying where they are from. I hadn't been there in quite some time myself so we were taking pictures of them all. Some of the pieces brought back memories of places I have traveled, some made you remember history and others we had to go an look up which was fun. I also had not seen the twisted metal piece they have added from the World Trade Center ground zero, that was very touching. When we were going around the building no one was even looking at it, but people saw us looking and pretty soon there were about a dozen of us all walking around the building. If your a real history buff I would allow at least 1/2 hour for this. Aside from the wow factor, its also free! The Tribune has a gift shop inside that has a great book about the building and the pieces inlayed in the stone as well as some neat gift items. There is also a mural when you walk in behind the front desk that is a huge map, we had no idea this was there until we went inside, I haven't seen it mentioned elsewhere.

On Michigan, across from the Wrigley Bldg. is this peculiar and wonderful building. You can often see a talk-show host on the air from a picture window off the sidewalk. Walk around the outside of the building to see small pieces of stone from landmarks around the world. There's even a piece of moon rock in one of the windows facing the sidewalk.

People walk by this building by the thousands and don't stop and look. This amazing building has over 100 fragments from famous building around the world set into the stone around the base, from a piece of "The Great Wall of China" to a piece of the "World Trade Center", from the Berlin wall to petrified wood from the redwood forest. These pieces are so cool! Take the time to really check this place out

Part of the reason i was excited to go to chicago was that i had researched many old greco roman style buildings were not roman at all but from a tartarian empire that spanned whole earth. This was one of them! Turns out there were buildings like these already here before we discovered america and even the indians didnt know who made them. Crazy but look at it carefully tho...

Very impressive building. We stumbled on this while finding the magnificent mile and loved it. The gothic top with the detail is fantastic. A lovely addition to the skyline of Chicago.
