Went for the Sunday night Poetry Slam. Sadly, they had more musical guests than poetry. Very quaint historical interior features.

I loved our night at Green Mill! We attended during a poetry slam and it was a really great experience. Such a cool atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place! We're from Canada so we didn't have a lot of American cash which was unfortunate because they only take cash but if you come prepared with cash, you will definitely have a... More

My wife and ended our last evening in Chicago with the late night show at Green Mill. The club has the feeling of old-town Chicago in the 30's and 40's, with lush booths and rich decor. And the show was excellent. We saw the soul jazz night with the Joel Paterson Trio featuring Chris Foreman on the Hammond b3 organ.... More

Al Capone supposedly hung out here, making it a bit of legendary stop for Chicago's visitors. The fact that is been hosting Jazz and other music acts for decades adds to the sense of nostalgia in the place. It looks a bit scruffy around the edges and as if it's an old gangster film set location, but inside you'll get... More

Went here for my 35th birthday. Had been wanting to check it out for a few years. Place is so cool inside and the history is so captivating. Music was awesome... only bar i have ever been able to go and listen to live music and still be able to carry on a nice conversation. Staff was super polite and... More

The Green Mill is not too much like their website. We went at 6:30 to have a few drinks. We were informed that if we were staying past 8 we would have to finish our drinks and get out. The website says they don't turn the bar over between bands, but they do. It fails to mention it is a... More

One of our family members lives in Chicago and picked this place for an evening of jazz and drinks What a great choice! People are dressed very casually and yet some are dressed to the nines! It was well worth the $15pp cover. We tried to time our arrival between the afternoon show and evening one. If you want to... More

If you like jazz music this is a great place to go. The house and was very good. They only accept cash. At the door and at the bar so don't forget to hit the ATM beforehand.

Green Mill always have some exceptional bands playing, I really love the vintage jazz played by the very talented band called Fat Babies. The atmosphere is extremely lively with a small dance floor. The service is pretty great too considering how busy it gets. This place has an interesting history and has an aura that takes you back in time.... More
