Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was a nice outdoor activity during COVID. It's a small zoo, but our grandchildren enjoyed it, and we did, too. The carousel was not running because of COVID restrictions. They had several inflatable Halloween decorations, but they were not inflated. We don't know if that was because it was windy the day we visited or if they don't inflate them until evening. It's pricey for such a small zoo - $6.95 for adults and $4.95 for youth ages 3-12. There is a nice playground outside the zoo.

The poorest excuse for a zoo I have seen in my whole life.. 1st grade School Field Trip. Cost $13.90 for 2 to get in, should have been $9.00 for chaperone's. Over half of their exhibits were empty... I would not recommend this zoo to anyone..

We were in town for a wedding and had a few hours to kill. Decided to go to the Miller Park zoo with our teenagers and we all LOVED it! Hardly anyone there so we could spend as much time as we wanted at each exhibit. Animals were active. Staff very friendly. It’s small but very nice!

I cannot BELIEVE this zoo still houses tigers and other wild animals. For the size, they should be restricted by law to ONLY house farm animals such as goats, sheep, etc and make this a petting zoo if anything at all. A full grown tiger has NO LIFE in this small of a cage, and also absolutely no socialization. Get it together Bloomington!! This is UNETHICAL!

While the zoo is a fun place to stop by and kill a couple of hours, I don't think the animals are treated right. Large animals such as a tiger and a bear are kept alone in tiny cement cells. They look like they are in poor health and should not be kept in such enclosures.

The zoo is not big size wise, but we have many animals and programs and special events for kids. They participate in breeding programs with other large zoos around the country and offer an educational junior zookeeper program. Admission cost is extremely low, and they reciprocate other AZA zoos. There is a small gift shop, historic carousel, and now concessions!

It may be small but there's plenty to do with kids. The butterfly garden is awesome. It's not a hard walk and plenty to do with the petting zoo and carousel and other opportunities.

I was pleasantly surprised by this zoo. This is a small town, but it is a great little zoo, with a nice variety of exhibits. The staff is great, and the layout of the zoo is quite nice. Plus, as an added bonus, it is in Miller Park, which is very nice. We got an extended family membership, and we will visit often.

This was honestly the saddest and most depressing zoo we have ever been to. The animal enclosures were small and didn't seem well kept. The zoo workers couldn't have cared less about their jobs or actually caring for the animals. We were really disappointed in our visit.

This is an example of the old-time zoos some cities had before the big mega-zoos of today. I remembered this zoo from when I would visit my aunt when I was a kid in the 60's. We were in town overnight, had some extra time and I wasn't sure it was still there, I was happy to find it was not only still there, but was bigger than it was when I was a kid! Located in a nice park with a lake and lots of kid friendly equipment. Also has a Renault F-17 tank from WW I, something you don't see everyday!
Lots of small animals, reptiles and birds, wallabys, otters, large cats and apes, bald eagles, meerkats and more. Even has an old time carousel ride. Big enough to entertain you for a couple of hours at least, kids would like it. My wife and I enjoyed it very much. Good fun!

We have Junior Zookeepers who will have ambassador animals out throughout the day, and you can feed the budgies at 11:00, 12:30 and 3:30 pm. It is $2.75.

Are there any food places in the zoo or do you have to bring your own food if you want to eat lunch?

We do not have concessions. You are more than welcome to bring in your own lunch and we have places inside for you to sit and eat.

There are two pavilions in Miller Park. The smaller one inside the Zoo is rented through the Zoo. The bigger building is rented through Parks and Rec.
