Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We were lucky enough to see part of what's left of this iconic hotel during the film festival 2019 as it was being used for a gallery exhibition. Such a fantastic building with a second to none location, it's a tragedy this was left to rot.

Every time I have a chance to admire this building I do hope it will be reopen soon. And for many years I have been disappointed. Maybe one day this place will regain its beauty and history will be written again with great events, people and stories. Now you can only enjoy the stories you have read, seen but no chance to be a part of them..

behind some temporary walls you can still discover de remains of a one probably very special and huge hotel. This is an example of what is probably no longer possible to maintain due to enormous costs, but you can imagine the special atmosphere there must have been in the 19th century ...

This past September I visited Venice Italy aa a female solo traveller for the first time.
I had researched a lot prior to going. A tour of the Lido and it's Grande Hotels like Les Bains and The Excelsior were of interest to me.
I loved the history and lore of the wealthy and famous spending summers there.
I was disappointed to see in the reviews that Les Bains (where Death In Venice film was shot) had fallen into ruin and was no longer open.
Fast forward to my trip..
When I took the vaporetto to the Lido from S. Lucia I wasn't aware that the Film Festival was going on. I was pleasantly surprised to see the hotel was open and being used as a gallery space for the film festival and Biennale events.
I'm not sure if the Hotel will reopen but it was definitely had been refurbished in some capacity for the Film Festival.
I'm planning to return again for Summer 2019. I will make sure to make a proper day of it next time.

This place is a magic one. One of those where big writers and painters used to have their home room. One you'll never forget. I have been there many times in the past since they closed it and I am still waiting that they consider to open it again. The garden is amazing, the swimming pool very relaxing and huge. Dining room is an historic piece of beauty, projecting you in the end of 19th century, with large ballrooms and amazing chandeliers.

I have read this place closed down after a fire some years ago. We stayed here in 2007 and wanted to stay again. Need another good hotel to stay in same area.

This was once one of the great hotels of the world......a fantastic building with a fascinating history and lavish interior decor. Sadly I have visited annually hoping to see it reopen and brought to life again but instead it is decaying more year by year. It is apparently waiting to be turned into apartments. What a tragic waste.

The hotel is a gem of fine architecture and decor - alas it was closed for renovation on my last trip but it is worth looking up for drinks on the terrace when it re-opens.

We passed by and took some photos. It's all boarded up, and the whole site closed off. Very sad that we'll never get to visit or drink a Spritz in the bar overlooking the lagoon.

The Hotel De Bains with its rich history of very famous guests has been shut down , plans are in the making to turn this landmark into luxury apartment/condominiums, the architects and developers will be challenged to keep its golden era charm, while bringing the amenities to modern state of the art....for those fortunate enough to be able to afford one of those beautiful apartments, they will enjoy the excellence of the building and its new amenities, and the beauty of the beachfront area of the Lido

Oui quelle tristesse ... l’hôtel est toujours à l’abandon ... que de souvenirs... si seulement le groupe LVMH l’avait acheté plutôt que le Cipriani ...
