Admit to going with slight trepidation as Idaho is not exactly known around the globe for its world-class opera talent....but maybe it should. The orchestra was great, but the personal performances lacked significantly. It was not a true performance of the play, just the music, with a narrator to fill in the gaps. If you didn't know the original script there's a good chance you'd be confused. Again, the orchestra was terrific, but the "roles" played by the performers was greatly lacking. Little... More

My wife and I recently attended The Barber of Seville performed by Opera Idaho at the Egyptian Theater. The cast was fabulous and the performance was very entertaining. No siree, bob. This is the real deal. It helps that there is a large university on their doorstep as far as increasing the talent pool, but you will be pleasantly surprised and entertained. No hanging back with the lighter fare. You get Verdi and Mozart and Puccini.
