I walk daily and amp it up by trying out different trails in my area. Lucky me the Chattahooche National Forest trails are easy for me to access. I especially walk Sope Creek on Paper Mill, two trails on the road parallel to 285 near Powers Ferry and the Johnson Ferry trails in Cobb. I've seen deer, river otters, turtle... More

Was so thrilled to find this national park practically in my own back yard. Beautiful, peaceful, well kept. Will surely be going back again and again to see it in every season.

At the time of my visit, Mallard ducks were swimming along with the trout in the river along the shoals. There are fascinating geologic formations around the park, evidence of powerful... More

Great place to visit. Wear bug spray! There's a rehabilitation center that you can visit. Local artists shows/sales in the welcome center are always worth seeing.Nice walking paths.

When Jimmie Carter was president he approved adding the Chattahoochee park system in Atlanta to the National Park Inventory. About five years ago the trail systems were upgraded by placing trail maps along all the trails. This enabled hikers to find their way amongst the many trails, and opened up the parks to great hiking. There are at least six... More

I visited the Powers Island area on a Sunday morning in April, on my way out of Atlanta. It is a very pleasant place to take a walk along the river on a spring morning. There are trails leading from the parking lot into the woods along the river, and a bridge just off the parking lot leads to Powers... More
