Great place to watch people, locals, wildlife and ships. You might even catch a fish or two if you are lucky. If you're at the village it's worth the extra 5 minutes to take a stroll to the pier.

There were several locals fishing the pier..some with poles and several catching crab..an interesting event for people who have never experienced this before! It's also a nice area to just sit and watch the sailboats in the bay and view Jekyll Island in the distance....More

This is a nice destination for a walk while staying at the Lodge or the Home 2 Suites and great places to shop and eat in the village.

I have fished many piers on the east coast and the gulf, but was surprised by the heavy current around this pier. I usually use a fish finder rig and fish the bottom, but the current would not let me hold the bottom. The other...More

Small pier. There were a lot of people fishing and using pier. Nice to see, but had to watch where you walked in order not to get hooked by the people fishing. Located at end of village, so worth the walk to see.

I love coming here. My dad used to fish off this pier when we were kids and it never ceased to amaze me what bounty of the sea that people caught each day. From all types of fish to crabs and shrimp! The birds would...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Do we need a fishing license to fish off of this pier? If so, do they sell them there?

Apparently yes, but of the hundreds that fish there, no one does. I have asked at the local fishing tackle store as well and they told me not to bother with one.
Hello, I live in Jacksonville, Fl. I am trying to decide if I should go fishing at the Jekyll Island pier or the St Simons pier. Any thoughts or advice? Thank you

I have only Ben to the St simons pier. I have seen a wide variety of fish caught here, including shrimps, blue crab, small hammerhead sharks, etc. I have also seen a lot of people getting collectively skunked. That said it... More
