this is a review of the Jekyll Island Historic District on Jekyll Island, Ga.. My family travels to Jekyll several times a year. Some members of my family have stayed at the Jekyll Club hotel but all have enjoyed the district and the food offerings. The grounds are beautiful and very mysterious to me. There are many ghost stories that... More

Very nice grounds and buildings, but not many had any businesses in them. There were a lot of trees and parking areas.

We rode our bikes all over the historic district. Its the best way to see all the old buildings! Love all the old buildings and huge live oaks hanging with Spanish moss.

Finding out the history of the island was great, it was only a 10 min video! We drove through the cottages and took some pics! Watched people playing croquet on the front lawn of the main attraction! We checked out the wharf, asked about the dolfin tour, all this on just a couple of days! We drove down in the... More

Feels a bit like you've stepped back in time. Love the Spanish moss-covered live oak trees, gorgeous, restored estates and slow pace.

The old historic district take you back to the opulent days of Jekyll Island. You can walk, bike, ride a horse drawn carriage or vehicle powered tram to tour the various buildings. Very good historical signage is found throughout.

Walking the grounds and gardens beneath the huge trees draped in moss is like being in a fairy tale. Each of the buildings has a family history and the entire gathering is something that couldn't be reproduced today. You can really experience American history here.

Just try and imagine yourself dressed in appropriate dress for late 1800's to early 1900's attending teas by the beach or dinner at the club. A place where history was made, deals were brokered and romances started. A place where the people were so important that during WWII Germany put a submarine off shore but within range of. A place... Although I had been to Jekyll a couple of years ago for a convention, my friend had not been there in 30 years. Jekyll is so beautiful and welcoming. Be sure to stop by the visitor center and speak with the friendly staff who are eager to share knowledge. I would not have know about the 350 year old plantation... More
