I’d read the village had lights for Christmas, but no idea the ancient live oaks would be wrapped in lights too! All the millionaires houses were decorated and up-lit. Such a nice evening stroll—the weather was perfect! Wish they would open all the houses on...More

I love historic homes, historic district’s and places of interest like Jekyll Island. It’s great that the state of Georgia saved this wonderful historic site, but I wish that the state would dedicate more money to restoring all of the “cottages“ back to their former...More

This is a unique visit, not often do you get to tour an exclusive club with restricted membership as many of them are still in operation (i.e. the Augusta National). Absolutely first do the tram tour to get an overview, then you better appreciate what...More

Enjoyed walking around the district. The "cottages" of the wealthy magnates of the past was fun and probably was not an area we would have visited if not for a conference at Sea Island. The landscape alone was very Southern and enjoyable.

This is a glorious area which takes you back to the grand old days when it was visited by the rich and famous. We saw it dressed for Christmas which enhanced it even more. Do wander and admire the beautiful buildings and a lovely waterfront...More

What a delight! We had not research this location before our unplanned stay here. It was made that much better by the decking out in all its fairytale grandeur with Christmas decorations, inside and out -- millions of lights! It was fun to let the...More

Worth a visit. On a bike the best way to see all. Well maintained grounds. Very informative and interesting.

Area where JP Morgan, Rockefeller's, Goodyear's etc., would winter. "Cottages" are in the area and good place to take a walk along the water. Probably, best site on island except for natural beauty.

Definitely worth walking around this part of town. The historic "cottages" are beautiful and the tall oaks with lovely Spanish Moss should not be missed. The biggest attraction is the Historic Jekyll Island Hotel which has been beautifully and carefully restored. Carriage rides are also...More

Joel: I'm sorry for the long delay. We own a condo at Jekyll so, to be fair, I find it impossible to answer. I have to agree with an answer already given - if you call the folks there will be accomodating. Good luck and have... More

The airport choices are JAX or Savannah. They are nearly equidistant from Jekyll. There is a tiny airport in Brunswick, but it requires an expensive plane change. Charleston airport is a little less than 3.5hrs away... More

Walking around and seeing sights, absolutely! They do have some shops, but I'm not sure about lunch. They have some snack shops, but no actual restaurant.
