About
Nestled in the rolling hills of Murrindindi near the township of Yea just north of the Great Dividing Range, Sedona Estate has been built from the ground up by owners Paul Evans and Sonja Herges. From its humble beginnings in 1998, Paul and Sonja’s vision has been to produce regionally distinctive wines of impeccable quality. As early pioneers in the region, they planted the Italian variety Sangiovese in 2001; its continuous success has seen a recent vineyard expansion of Sangiovese to the north facing hillside block and new plantings of the old French variety Carmenere. First commercial crops are eagerly awaited!

We stumbled on this winery during a weekend stay in Yea. It's an oasis after a little drive past lambs and calves off the main road. The winery is beautifully presented and the hosts are passionate about wine. The day we went the sun was shining and it was a lovely place to enjoy a wine and cheese platter while taking in the tranquil view.

We had driven past the turnoff to this one a couple of times previously and the name caught our attention.

We finally ventured in this weekend and we were not disappointed. We were treated to some really distinctive whites and reds and great company from the owner.

The views from the cellar door are awesome whilst you sample their wines. We didn't eat here but the menu looked interesting.

Tip: try the sav blanc. Very interesting.

We went to Sedona Estate winery yesterday with friends for an Easter Sunday special event- one that we all agreed was excellent and we all want to go again next year. We had previously booked a table to enjoy a generous, delicious, beautiful locally prepared platter of delicacies {at under $45 to share between two} along with Sedona's excellent wines and we all enjoyed the wonderful, calming views across the beautiful valley. We were waited on and totally spoiled by Sonja and her partner Paul along with the lovely, friendly waitress service of Jamie. This incrediblel winery is a fast developing local gem that produces red and white wines at the very top end of the wine spectrum- we were amazed at the fantastic quality of their wines and all of us bought several bottles to take home and savour later with a great meal. Yesterday's special event is a special one that also provides pleasant to the ear live music as well as a beautiful setting under cover of a generous marquis across the magnificent Murrindindi area near Yea. Top this all off with special wines and it becomes an experience to crave again. Platters to share though are only available on the weekends and the winery is not open on Mondays. We are definitely booking again next year. Watch this space- this winery is going places in the wine world. A true local gem of the diamond category.

Driving back to Melbourne from Wangaratta via Yea, we happened upon the small Sedona Estate winery. Tucked away off main roads and nestling between rolling hills, what a find! A variety of wines to taste, which are all of good quality. The cheese based platter is plenty for two sharing, containing a tasty selection of cheeses and artisan foods with plenty of rustic bread.
We were made very welcome by the owners and we were impressed by the quality of everything there - including the very modern toilet!

I visited this special winery with my hubby over Melbourne's cup long weekend. The scenery is marvellous as well as wines and service. We felt welcome and Sonja took the time to explain us all about their wines. We had a tasting with a very good variety of whites and reds; also have a cheese platter which was absolutely delicious. If you want to visit a special and intimate winery then this is the place!

A small vineyard situated in the beautiful Murrindindi valley near Yea offers cellar door tastings and sales. Wines are high quality boutique. Owners Paul and Sonja are passionate about their wines. Rather than just shop for wine stay for a hearty cheese tasting platter and linger whilst sipping on a glass or two of their wine on the terrace over looking the vineyard and Murrindindi valley vistas. Periodically they have music entertainment and or art showings. All in all a very pleasant way to spend a sunny afternoon. We have visited several times. Visit now with the balmy Autumn weather. Check opening times.

Sedona Estate is a long drive from the main road, a significant portion of which is dirt road. It is well worth the excursion. Nestled deep in the hills is this lovely vineyard producing excellent wine. I drove there especially to buy their 2013 Reserve Shiraz. If you are looking for food, they serve a good cheese platter.

Paul and Sonya looked after us in a superlative manner: the wine tasting was the best and the ten of us sat outside overlooking awesome views of the hills sipping more wine and enjoying the tasty platter. Awesome guys, keep it up. A must visit!

This wonderful family run winery is a hidden gem. Sonja and Paul are wonderful hospitable people and the wines are brilliant. The views from the Tasting area really sum up the countryside and sitting beside the roaring log fire with a glass of Sedona Shiraz and a tasting platter of fine local food including Smoked trout Pate and local Cheeses is a pleasure to be had

We discovered Sedona's wine at a small restaurant and when we saw they were participating in the Yea Arts Festival we decided to take a trip to the cellar door.

The sign post to the winery is off the Melba Highway and after a number of twists and turns we found the cellar door nestled in a lovely part of the country. It is quite a way from the highway, but well worth the trip.

We only planned to drop in to see the art, do a quick tasting and keep moving. However due to the excellence of the wines we stayed quite a while talking to the winemaker and were lucky enough to be invited to tour the winery itself.

I fully recommend taking the time to get off the beaten track and experience Sedona Estate.
