We were driving to Fort King George when we stumbled onto St Cyprian. Built in the late 19th century, it was for Darien’s Episcopalian Black Community. The church is built from Tabby and with care will probably stand for hundreds of years..

I have been taking pictures of churches from Virginia to Florida for the past several years and incorporate them into Calendars, books, etc. Did not know about this one until recent visit to Darien, Georgia. I am excited to include it in my writings.

Historical church near the waterfront and lined with Spanish moss covered trees. Built by former slaves, well kept.

Lovely service, lovely people! Never been to a mass where the piano was accompanied by harmonica - very cool!

Drove by. Interesting historic place. GA State Historical Marker tells story. Looks like a working church. Right next to harbor and Skippers Seafood restaurant.

This is the first African-American Episcopal Church in Darien, Georgia. Originally built of "tabby" by former slaves in 1873, it has continously served as a house of worship since then.
