If you like the mountains in Georgia, this is a good one. Easy access with beautiful overlook views, trails, camping, and cabin rental. There is a lake with an easy trail around it. Dogs on a leash are permitted eveyywhere except the small beach.

We decided to come to the mountains for the weekend because GA State parks were doing 1/2 off for cabins the first weekend in January. The temperatures were well below average so we had a lot of trouble with the heat. We were moved twice...More

We visit few state parks, I have to do better in my focus:) My problem is I'm so consumed chasing national parks, state parks fall off to the side. But Fort Mountain had a love story and I thought it would be fun to take...More

As much as I enjoy the park and it's hiking, I have to write this review as a cautionary for novice bikers. My wife and I used the 301 bike trail and it was rough to say the least. If you enjoy choppy technical down...More

We did the shorter trail that went to the lookout and the wall. It took us maybe 30 minutes of hiking total and it wasn’t too bad. We had little kids with our group (ages 1-3) and they all did great. The views are absolutely...More

We took the family here and this is a place to enjoy the outdoors. There are multiple paths of varying lengths. We brought a picnic lunch which is what I would recommend. Pets are welcome and we brought our dog on a lead. There are...More

Staff is friendly and helpful, cabins are awesome and the trails magnificent. If you go you must do the Gahuti trail, a little challenging but so worth the effort. Make sure to wear your hiking boots and if you have a hiking stick it's a...More

No food on the mountain. Try some of the local, nonchain places in town.

From what I understand, you can't reserve specific spots. I would suggest trying to camp near the lake.
