Cherokee County has talent

The display is quite impressive. They have such a variety of artwork on display. Not to mention that Cherokee County is so full of history that tends to get overlooked.

Enjoyed our visit at the Canton Co History Museum. It's not a big place but it packs a lot of great history of the past. Well worth a visit with a stop afterwards at any of the local downtown restuarants.

The Cherokee County Historical Society teamed with the City of Canton to provide space to caretake our local Cherokee history. Well done, CCHS!

We live in Canton and had not been here until today, the photo that is with the venue is just that, the entire museum pretty much; we felt a little stupid at first as we went in there as a "starting point" so my daughter could change her shoes then went back out the door to "find the museum" when... I have been to community plays in this building, eaten a fabulous lunch in the lower area and taken the tour of the building. It is very interesting and the volunteer docent was outstanding. Classrooms recreated for the early to mid 1900's piques so many memories of my childhood. The many donations of dresses and furnishings is very well displayed.... More

A fun location. It's in the cute historic part of downtown Canton. You can watch a 20 min video about the area and the takeover of the land from the native Americans. They have displays, maps and other interesting things to go through. The coolest part is you can tour an old courtroom and then the old jail on the... More

At time of visit, facility torn apart to repair water leaks and extensive damage in the museum part of this very old building. Features are very specific, local, and unless you have an interest in Cherokee County not a very interesting.

We took our Cub Scouts there and they had a blast! We even put them in Jail - up on the 4th floor! I found my family's old homestead in one of the displays and so did our troop leader! A great way to learn about Cherokee County!!
