- Rosh145London, United Kingdom891 contributionsA must see!! Nature at its bestA must do! Only a 90 minute drive from Senggigi, both of these waterfalls are spectacular. Entrance is 20k per person. I recommend getting a guide (ours was called So-one and was excellent. Charged 140k including entrance for 2 people) as the second waterfall is difficult to find. You can wear flip flops but be mindful that you will have to walk across the river when going to the second waterfall. If you have weak knees you may struggle. There are also some narrow stairs you have to climb. A good sense of balance and a basic level of fitness is required. The walk from the first waterfall to the second is about 25 mins.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 March 2023
- areisendeSingapore, Singapore132 contributionsEarly hike = waterfalls all to yourselfI started my run at 6.15am, and got to the waterfall 'entrance' before they 'open'. I still find charging a fee to see a waterfall a little rich... but it's not that I mind paying a small sum to see it, but I had the peace and solitude of the falls to myself. Tiu Kelep falls are further in and would require you to step across the river a few times. Beautiful tropical waterfalls.Visited May 2023Written 4 May 2023
- JinjjaDaebakkSingapore, Singapore154 contributionsAmazing waterfallsDefinitely worth visiting these 2 majestic waterfalls. Sendang Gile is very easy to get to, you can even take a motorbike there. Tiu Kelep is harder as there are river crossings and some steep steps. We went with a guide which charged us 150k per pax which is quite pricey. Most other tourist went without a guide.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 22 July 2023
- JFBellLondon, United Kingdom388 contributionsBeautiful walkA wonderful outing. Our guide took us along the relatively flat approach to the first fall, which is alongside the canals built to supply water for irrigation to the area. Which are fascinating in themselves. He told us the alternative was 400 steps to and from the other entrance; we didn’t go there but I can’t see it could be better. The falls themselves are stunning. You need to cross the river 4 times to get to the second fall, which makes choice of footwear interesting. You need shoes you can walk 5k in comfortably, and which allow you to do a small amount of scrambling over rocks, but which you don’t mind getting wet. We chose old walking sandals which worked ok. You also have to hire a local guide. IR100,000 in cash is not expensive.Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 25 September 2023

Powerful waterfalls very worth a stop when visiting Lombok. Make sure to bring flip flops or beach shoes if you intend to hike to the second - and most beautiful waterfall as you will have to cross the river up to 3 times and water reaches the ankle or calf.

Waterfalls are absolutely breathtaking. A must do in Lombok for sure. Make sure to bring slippers as you will be required to cross the river to get to the second waterfall. At the second waterfall you will definitely get wet.

Senaru is a village that has the most beautiful waterfall we've ever seen so far, very suitable for visiting those who can't afford to climb Mount Rinjani.

Hi, I'm planning to visit Sendang Gile and tiu kelep in august- August 15-18 to be specific. Is it a good time to go there? Is there enough water in the waterfall to enjoy a swim?

Hi, I'm going to Lombok in May- was already contacting a few drivers and one of them told me that the waterfall is closed due to eartquake - is it true or are they open to the public? Thanks!

Hi, yes it actually unfortunately is true but at your own risk you can still go like we did two days ago. If you are looking for a great guide, I would recommend you our guide, he was absolutely amazing!

How long is the trip from Senaru to Tiu Kelep (including both driving to the site and hiking to the second falls)? We are two adults in sufficiently good shape.

Hi has anyone visited sendang gile and Tiu kelep since the unfortunate earthquake August 5th? I’ve heard mixed messages from locals, some saying it is closed because of a landslide. I’m visiting in December. If you’ve visited would you please include the date you visited? Thank you!

Gili is an island, so u must get back to the mainland first before getting to Tiu Kelep. Tiu Kelep is in Lombok itself, but quite a drive away from the airport.
What I did last time was visit Tiu Kelep on the day that I came back from Gili. Guide picked me up from Bangsal harbour in the morning and drove us over to Tiu Kelep.

There are two entrance to get the waterfalls. Depending on which ways we take. As we know Senaru has three waterfalls and two of them are very popular they are Sendang Gile and Tiu Kelep waterfalls. The first is Sendang Gile. To avoid the stairs, do not go to parking area since it was crowded by a lot of local guides. It's better you stop at first entrance near from small mosque in Senaru. Buy the tickets there and you will walk to the waterfall without passing the stairs but it's just very stright road. And it must be suite for the children too. About 15 minutes walk, you reach the first waterfall named Sendang Gile waterfall. Here you might not swim coz the land and river too narrow. Different from the second waterfall that is bigger. To get there, just continue your walking at the same way with little slippery stone on the river when you cross it away. It takes 27 minutes for normal from the first waterfall to the second one. You may feel more excited being good swimmer on the river underneath the waterfall.
Note : do not swim close to the big valley/rock since it has much strong water fall down.

Hi! I will be staying at Gili Air. Is it possible to get to the waterfalls from there? Is it very far away? Thanks!

I think you'd be crazy to attempt this visit unless you are happy just travelling and forgetting the whole reason people go to Gili Air...to relax...if you want more things to do, don't think Gili Air is the place you will be happy in...all the best
