Nine of us went to lunch at the National Croquet Center yesterday for a friend's birthday. The setting is lovely both inside the restaurant and on the large screened patio where you can view the green lawns with people playing croquet on them. If you go on Saturday morning, you can take a free lesson! Inside the building you can... More

Well, we didn't play croquet. If we had, we would have been obliged to wear white. We went for lunch as a group and enjoyed the buffet. Plenty of choices, both hot and cold. This is a nice place to celebrate an occasion, or come as a club or team. You can either dine inside or out, depending on the... More

We attended a wedding there and part of the evenings events included being instructed on the rules of the game of croquet. We had so much fun learning how to play and learning some of the strategy. Our guide was information, helpful and funny. We want to go back so we could try it again. It was a beautiful place... More

I had such a fun time visiting the National Croquet Center. What a hidden gem in a busy town. I thoroughly enjoyed the free clinic/lesson. I now have a new respect for a historic and fun game.

Everyone has to start as a novice and you don't feel like an idiot when you smash the mallet and your ball goes bounding off course. Games later, months later -- you begin to get your groove. Every Saturday is a free clinic for those who want to try. I got hooked and became a member, but you don't have... More

We were there for a fundraiser. The setting is pretty and the food was good. They had friendly and professional coaches to teach people how to play and provide advice on strategy and shots. It was fun for all ages!

We enjoyed the free croquet lessons on a Saturday morning. Our instructor, Bob, was very knowledgable about the game of croquet and made learning the game fun. We enjoyed the clubhouse afterwards for a glass of wine and cocktails. The clubhouse and grounds were well maintained and the ambiance was wonderful. Great venue to learn the game and spend a... We found out about this on Trip Advisor and registered for a free Sat. morning lesson. It was really fun and of course something that we had never done before. Wear sunscreen and a hat, as well as the suggested white clothing. I was surprised at the number of people that were there for the class (around 14).

"It's a great day to play croquet" is the voice message at NCC, and it really was . Free lesson, beautiful setting complete with a club house, and learning how to play this deliciously devious sport added up to a perfect morning . You get a lesson and play a competitive game . They provide the equipment . We stayed... More
