All water locations are dried up....trails are unmarked...no signs for way out....downed trees all over...ignored.....people have used it for disguarding things such as toilets, sofas, televisions etc....its become a garbage dump. Who ever by the Federal Gov..to manage this place must be sitting home doing nothing. Bass Lake...is dry...

We spent 4 days at Fore Lake Campground and loved every minute of it. We got in early to ensure we got a site (First come first serve) and did we ever. We did the primitive site which had a water hookup by the road which was convenient. The camp hosts were very friendly and were able to answer any... More

Overall this was a lovely place but not like other national forests in western USA. A road with buildings went right through the forest making us feel like we were just driving any old road. There is a maze of sand roads, we managed to take a couple of the wider, flatter ones in our campervan but some were just... More

Centennial trailhead is right off of 40 8 miles before the Big Scrub Campground. Great for a day trip. We were able to park close to the trails, and the HWY. plenty of parking and has restrooms at the trailhead. They provide maps and it is pay to park/ride for three days @ 10.00/operator. We will be heading back! Different... More

Got a new puppy, Buc, who LOVES to go hiking. Ocala Forest is perfect for hiking, especially in the fall. So many trails to choose from, tons of wildlife, and NO people. Buc and I hiked for hours in the Big Bass Lake area. In some spots there was so much deer moss that it looked like snow. Saw a... More

I hear there's some springs tucked away in there somewhere....but we drove around for about an hour, and saw nothing the least bit appealing. In all fairness, maybe the trails and or the springs have something nice to offer.
