I've lived near Tampa for over 40 years and have been to Tarpon Springs a handful of times. Why I have never taken this tour, I don't know! It was only 40 minutes but was full of knowledge and history. It was amazing to see the old diving suit being put on the diver. It's 170 pounds! It was a... More

We happened to get the last boat trip of the day and were pleasantly surprised at the excellent tour in a very touristy town. The Captain of the St. Nicholas is a former sponge boat diver whose great grandfather came to Tarpon Springs in 1904 from Greece. This area is one of the largest natural sponge areas and at the... It was a fun and interesting tour BUT took a long while as waiting to add other passengers as the diver dressed. It was educational from a history standpoint regarding the sponge industry in America.

This was a short tour (I think around 45 minutes total) but was fun and educational. I would recommend it for someone who doesn't want to spend 2 hours on a boat.

Even though it was a blistering hot day this short adventure was a pretty cool thing to do in tarpon springs. Learn a little about harvesting sponges. The crew was very nice and funny.

Short, educational and fun boat ride. Expected a bit more but for $10 (1 adult and young child) you can't beat the price. The narrator had us laughing and was very knowledgeable.

This tour was fascinating! The price was reasonable and the whole experience was wonderful. The guide described the different sponges and passed around examples of each on our way out to the site. Then an experienced crew got the diver ready and overboard he went. You could see him bobbing up and down in the water as he walked along... More

We really hadn't planned on a boat trip but the very nice gentlemen selling tickets on the street were very nice and persuasive. So we went and were really glad we did. It was $8 for a 40 minute trip where they exp, aimed the sponge industry and the various types of sponges that grow in the local waters. There was... More

We have taken this tour several times in the last three months. The tour itself is a great tour for the money and very informative. Unfortunately, the tour we had this week did not feature a sponge diver. To make up for this, they extended the tour by several minutes and gave a narrative tour about the area and the... More
