Gotta love creepy mannequins

It's a given that old museums have a certain smell and are full of creepy mannequins that attempt to portray the look and events of the day. I wish someone with resources could volunteer to remake these into newer versions. maybe someone, somewhere has connections to have them updated. Was a nice piece of history and cool to walk around... More

Back in the 70's the Navy retrofitted these C4 hulls to Oceanographic survey ship. I was on the USNS Dutton TAG 22 and we charted the ocean floor making topographic navigation maps. With its flat bottom it would rock and roll at the slightest wave. It was a single hull so any crack in the hull would cause it to... More

This ship was great they offer student discounts which makes it super affordable. It is a great peice of history and the tours are self lead so there is plenty of timw to explore read and take photos.

We arrived to channelside and made our way to the ship. Wow what a site. We entered through the side and man were we amazed. It is a self guided tour which I enjoyed because everything was labeled and explained on plaques. We have a 6 year old son and he loved it. Especially the guns up on the top... More

We found a great Livingsocial deal for this SS American Victory Ship self guided tour on a very rainy day in Tampa. Parking was hard to find but was able to park in parking garage across from the round turnabout. We learned lots of ship history and even saw two cruise boats (Carnival and Royal Caribbean).

This does cost you to go on. But you can run all around the boat and it does go out from time to time with people on it.

This is an authentic piece of History. It is completely Hands-On and great for family as well as just couples or individuals who want to reach out to the past. Lots of things to see. It's one of those rare places that is truly authentic and has not been replicated to represent history but history itself.

I would have really enjoyed if any volunteers would have offered even one of their excitement, passion of this ship. Maybe we just hit there at lunch time, and they do at other times? Was just weird seeing someones dirty dishes sitting in the kitchen. Just one person telling why they loved spending their time there would have really been... More

This ship is really sweet, Everything inside of the ship is pretty much the real deal. You could go to some rooms and others you can just see from the door.

you have to really like ships to enjoy this, if you do you will like it. but there is only a structure to see inside. but its not that expensive so it kills a half hour.
