I'm so glad Tampa is finally making the most out of the riverfront. It's a tidal river, so the water flows upstream when the tide comes in, which I've never seen before. You can see dolphins and manatees, and it's a great place to kayak or paddle board, or just stroll the new river walk.

The Hillsboro River is a great place to Canoe. It is filled with wildlife to include a few Alligators from time to time. There are nice areas where you can pull off to pick fruit or just relax in the sun. It does get pretty shallow in spots so be careful.

I've been boating and fishing on the Hillsborough River for over 40 years and have seen much change. I only go in the freshwater portion which is above the dam near Rowlett Park. This is NOT a review of the brackish portion that flows through the downtown Tampa area. From the 56th Street bridge upriver, all the way to Nature's... More

A great park to visit for the day. Rented a canoe and traveled the river for a couple of hours. there was plenty of wildlife and alligators along the river and it was very relaxing. After canoeing we took a hike along the orange blaze trail, which took you deep into the woods. overall great time.

I am a Tampa native/resident. My dad and I have canoed the river ever since I was 4 years old. We like to bring our own canoe, rather than rent one at the rental places out there because the rental places usually only go on a small portion of the river. We like going on about 6 miles of the... I enjoyed my ride down Hillsborough River.. I launched just off Fowler exit (from I- 75) at a public ramp. The river was slow enough I could paddle against the current for a half mile then a quicker ride back. The only thing I didn't care for was both sides of the river is full of private houses all the... More

Canoe, kyaak, pontoon boat... they are all great ways to see the river. Wildlife at every turn. Gators, turtles, hawks, ospreys, mallards, and more. The entire river is minimum wake, slow for the entire portion north of 56th Street in Temple Terrace. Thre are two boat ramps, one at the park in Temple Terrace, just off Riverhills Drive and another... More
