Enjoyed the beautiful scenery and the lazy alligators as we canoed down the river. Best to do on a sunny day when more gators are out.

The Hillsborough River winds its way through old Tampa and provides a potential resource for tourism. The river is not a particularly big river, but it brings the bay a little further in so everyone can enjoy it. We saw fishermen and bicyclists from Seminole...More

Twice over the past several years we have retreated from the confusion of modern cities and interstate highways and found real serenity on the Hillsborough River canoe trips near Morris Bridge Road. The river flows with enough current so you don't have to paddle very...More

Spent the weekend at Sheraton Tampa Riverwalk right on the Hillsborough River. So much to see and do here. Watched the sunset right over the river. Fish jumping, tons of boats cruising, and lots of folks enjoying the river and Riverwalk. Now there's a water...More

I'm so glad Tampa is finally making the most out of the riverfront. It's a tidal river, so the water flows upstream when the tide comes in, which I've never seen before. You can see dolphins and manatees, and it's a great place to kayak...More

There are no boat rentals on the river. You can rent a canoe at the Hillsborough State Park. The most fun would be a canoe or kayak trip from the park down to USF.

Hi, dogs are allowed on a lease. There are several camp sites. I would recommend spring or fall. Summers are crowded and very humid and hot. Lots of insects. Winter is good too but it can get cold.
