Overview
More
Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo is home to more than 1300 animals and famous for having one of the most beautiful, tropical zoological settings in the world. The Zoo brings together animals and visitors to create unforgettable, natural connections. Guests get closer to wildlife than ever before by touching a giant tortoise, feeding a giraffe, getting nose-to-horn with an Indian rhino, hand-to-fin with slippery stingrays and more! Families can also splash in water play areas, feel thrills on rides and take in educational shows. Love manatees? The Zoo is the only place in Tampa where guests can see Florida manatees year round. At the David A. Straz Jr. Manatee Hospital, the Zoo’s veterinary and animal-care staff treat sick, injured and orphaned manatees, and return them to the wild after rehabilitation. The Zoo also cares for the most diverse group of Florida wildlife anywhere, and has won numerous awards for animal preservation.

Good size and decent price. Highs: it's big enough to spend several hours and not get bored. The exhibits were generally well thought out and good sized. The stingray encounter was probably the highlight. Cons: there are some issues with flow. We found ourselves doubling...More

The zoo itself is not huge like many of the zoos nationwide, however, this works to its advantage as the spaces are created in such a way where you do not feel as if everything is clustered together. Rather, each group of animals feel like...More

Halloween weekend they had fake spider webs everywhere and characters dressed to amuse all the children. Very family friendly Halloween place. Lots of animals to see. A great zoo for all kids and adults.

An older format zoo. That means you can get closer to the animals and their enclosures than you can with more new-trend zoos that have fewer animals with larger enclosures. We spent a couple hours at the zoo and that was enough. Baby orangutan was...More

Lowry Park Zoo does rescue work with manatees so it is fascinating to visit to just see them. It also has an amazing African elephant exhibit. In general it’s a great zoo for adults or kids.

The day was too windy for fishing, so my wife and I headed for Lowry Park Zoo, hoping that it wouldn't be too crowded. We were able to get a close-in parking space and great discounts for the rest of the year. The park was...More
