This is a on-your-own tour. The friendly greeter in the Capitol Rotunda will give you a bit of history about the building and then you are on your own to explore the various rooms. You can pretend to be a supreme court judge, a legislator, or a senator. Learn about Florida's past as you wander the halls of the old... More

The museum has a large permanent exhibit on Florida History and a rotating exhibit area that features all types of things that make Florida special, from a local quilt show, to Clyde Butcher's incredible photos of the swamps of Florida, the Seminole Indians, and the cars that made drag racing famous.

Every single middle school student (85) that we took, was engage with the tour offered by the Historic Capitol. They even gave the student the opportunity to play an engaging scavenger hunt game. The students had a blast and there was a lot to see. I recommend it for a social study field trip.

We have visited a number of capitols. This one is almost just an apology for some really interesting history / a lot of injustice has been a part of the history. The chambers for the house and senate seem to be missing the trappings most states have. Was it lost, or do they not care enough to finish the job.... More

My husband and I spent a little over an hour to do a self-guided tour of Tallahassee's Historic Capitol Museum. It sat upon its hill in white splendor with red & white stripped awnings against a brilliant blue sky -- just stunning. Inside, it has been well restored and has an informative introductory film. The stained glass dome is lovely.... More

The visit to Florida's Old capitol was ok but the tourism was not good. There were no visuals and they don't clean the floors. I also live in the state of Florida in the capital.

If only the new Capitol had the style this one has! You can visit the various chambers and see some terrific exhibits on Florida history. It wasn't until I visited here, that I learned that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. had been in Florida. The students that I saw roaming around seemed to be really getting into their visit. The... More
