We drove to see this, but it is closed due to hurricane damage. You can't see anything because of the barricades. Don't bother to make the trip for this. It's waste of time.

It is somewhat intact but down. Heard it might be repaired and put back up but no decision has been made yet. Key West is up and running well, so is Key Largo but the middle keys are still a mess. Looks like it will...More

Florida Keys vacation back in June '17. Had to make the stop in Sugarloaf Key on our way to Key West to visit the "Bat Tower". Quirky attraction but glad we did cause #Irma wiped it out:(

Bat Tower failure - along with Flagler's Folly. Enjoy the scenic road to see what amounted to a good idea without a good follow up plan. SPOILER ALERT: The bats left :-(.

My son loves bats and we did FaceTime with him. Huge next on top and although we didn't see any bats at the time we went it was worth the stop to see a structure you normally don't see. Only a minute from the beaten...More

Yes, ok you probably need to see it and it is an interesting structure. But if I didn't know the history of it from my tour guide, I wouldn't have had a clue as to the significance or anything about it. The tower was built...More

It was many and many a year ago [in a kingdom by the sea…] there lived a man on Lower Sugarloaf Key who decided he wanted to build a fishing retreat for people (sounds good in theory, right?). He, indeed, built it. But, when the...More
