Every year we camp here before the 12 hour race week at Sebring. It's a beautiful park with great trails to hike and easy bike riding in a tropical setting. The restrooms are always clean, staff friendly and the CCC museum is really worth a visit. The museum has a new 55 minute DVD they play on the history of... More

Highlands Hammock takes you back to when all of Florida from the Beeline to Miami was the Everglades. Just stunning... the canopy is much cooler on a hot day. The cat walk is super cool! Depending on the time of year, the park can be simply teeming with alligators! It has been a few months since the last time I... More

We stopped here briefly this week and I can't wait to go back and explore some more. This park is so beautiful. The walks are well maintained and the park rangers were some of the friendliest and most helpful that I have encountered. The parking for the trails is nice and we appreciated the suggestions of "must see" trails.

Good information about FL and especially local Highlands. Try to make sure you go on the tram and in the morning .

Billed as the first park in the state of Florida built by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Highlands Hammock has a wealth of things to see and do. There are campsites for extended stays, special events, walking trails, bike rentals and even a CCC museum. It is a great place to bring the family for a cookout (you can rent a... More

It's not everyday you get to go on hikes and see Alligators. I live in Pennsylvania. If you get a chance to go visit this place a lot of neat trails.

This park is very spread out. Our guide was a wealth of information. The kids saw plenty of animals from different types of birds, turtles, alligators and an armadillo that we could almost touch. Visited the museum after the tour ride worth seeing. There were plenty of picnic tables with and without shade your choice and a playground structure for... More

I recently took my two kids for a Saturday night camping trip here. Check in was easy, and as with most of the ranger stations I've been to in Florida the people staffing it were knowledgeable and welcoming. The camp sites were well marked and well shaded. During our stay we explored the different trails throughout the park and were... More

This is one of my favorite parks in Florida. The flora is beautiful. Great wild life. I have seen deer, many different birds, gators, snakes, otters, etc. I would definitely recommend the tram with a guided ranger. I have done it several times and the rangers who guide you are very knowledgeable. Each of them has a different expertise and... More
