The joke goes, "Lots of old people live in Sarasota...but their parents live in Venice." Though the TOPS FROM FLOPS was an well-done musical melange, cleverly piecing together theatre trivia/information and well-known songs, with MANY VERY TALENTED PERFORMERS, I wish someone would realize that not...More

Right on Tamiami Trail across the street from the Van Wezel. Has mostly local talent and the seating is comfortable. They have shows that most people will recognize. We saw Singing in the Rain. We did not get wet in the second row. They will...More

We have been going to Sarasota, Florida for many years. This year we discovered The Players Theatre. What a treat. Great music and acting. Price was right.

I am at this theater often, and like many creative types, I call it my second home! This is a wonderful theater with friendly staff and dozens of volunteers who keep the community aspect of this theater alive and well. If anything, I'd ask travelers...More

Last year was Sweet Charity. Today was Singin’ In The Rain. Are these perfect productions? Sometimes. Are these excellent? Consistently yes. While this theatre is okay, there are plans for its replacement. But the talent and quality needs no upgrading. Pick something you like and...More

This is a wonderful local theater in downtown Sarasota. The venue is small and intimate - so no bad seats. Plenty of parking, friendly staff. We saw The 1940 Radio Hour and it was very enjoyable show. Definitely worth taking in a show.

We were there for "Arsenic and Old Lace" in August. Frankly, although some actors were at the same level as those in university or low-level professional productions, others were more at the level of high school and perhaps primary school productions. The actual theatre was...More

Depends on the show. Most shows start at 7 or 8pm. And are usually 2 -3 hours depending on which show it is. ON the players website they usually show how long each show is.
