Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary provides a sanctuary "for life" for the exotic animals currently calling the sanctuary home. Our goal is to create habitats that mimic native environments and are complete with a staff that can provide daily behavioral, sensory, and manipulative enrichment which is the basis for a happy healthy animal in captivity. As we grow and open our habitat to more rescues we will provide the same excellent care while educating the public.

My husband and I decided to go there based on TA reviews. The compound is in a rural part of Sarasota county and provides plenty of space for the animals that reside there. It really is a big cat habitat in that they have over 50 big cats (lions, tigers, and ligers (a lion/tiger mix). The day we visited there... More

The facilities, number of animals, care they provide are just right for a nice family outing. I thought some of the animal show jokes were a little off putting, but otherwise we had a nice time.

It really is a sanctuary for big cats, bears, parrots, and other animals. This family run, non-profit organization is really about the care and loving of these animals. A petting zoo, 2 shows and lots of volunteers make this $18.00 entrance fee the best bargain in Sarasota. Great for young and old, family and enemies...it will leave you smiling. Better... More

Petting zoo is wonderful. Shows were good with the lion and tiger show being amazing. These folks live these animals and it shows. Lions and tigers and bears, oh my. Chimps and monkeys too.

My wife and I brought our 2 year old to see the big cats and we all ended up having even more fun than we thought we would. The staff was very friendly, the animals are well taken care of and not just used as sideshow animals and the petting zoo was a blast. They put on shows with the... More

I was pleased to see that this is not a road show animal act. It really is a sanctuary and it seems like the animals are cared for and loved. Although the parrot show seemed a bit weird. I wish they had better signs/educational info about the animals.

I went to hs here and never knew about this. Walking up, was amazed at how clean the facilities were and happy the animals are! But the highlight were the shows and people (of course the more than 50 cats and many other animals) that run the place. The price was cheap and the amount of displays perfect! Highly recommend... We visited the Big Cat Habitat for the first time this January and we are so happy we did! We LOVED the big cat show and the bird show as well. I was surprised how close you actually got to the cats. We sat on the side of the arena and Handsome the beautiful lion was probably 20 feet in... More
