My grandmother loved this park, but somehow we were always too busy at the beach. On a cool day we finally went. Should have gone years ago. Got there to late for the tram or boat ride--next year! Enjoyed the elevated canopy walk although the wait was long. Will plan a whole day next time.

Great place to get out and "visit" gators in their natural habitat. Pretty cool to spy on gators sunning themselves while figuring out where you'd run if they decide to come and eat you. It seriously, I don't think they are too interested in the visitors for whatever reason. Just keep back, take your pic and you'll be fine. Beautiful... More

We visited for a morning & ended up staying all day! We took the tram ride which was really informative & great value then the boat trip. We saw so many gators! Even baby gators which was amazing and during the boat ride they were all around us in the lake, an amazing experience. We saw snakes, vultures, osprey, bald... More

Wonderful, peaceful, beautiful state park. Loved the canopy walkway -- you can cross a bridge and climb up above the trees (or if you're a chicken like me, you can climb up halfway). Saw many, many alligators in their natural habitat, undisturbed but clearly visible from an overhead viewing area. Overall a lovely park. Clean restrooms too.

Come for the great scenery, trails, boat tours and stay for the food! There are many many trails in this state park. Don't miss any of them by stopping at the offices and getting a detailed map. The one they give you at the gate showcases only a portion of the trails that are provided.

Myaka River State Park is about a 3O miles from Sarasota. Upon entering the park you will drive across a small bridge crossing the river. Youwillsee a collection of different sized alligators swiming or basking in the sun. This is certainly worthy of a greater look after parkingyour car in the nearby parking lot. Across from the lot is the... More

Myakka River State Park has always been one of my favorite state parks and if I didn't live over 3 hours away I would visit much more often. When visiting Myakka I've always gotten the sense of what Florida was like before the tourists, before the developers and even before the Spanish explorers first set foot in these pristine lands. There... More
