We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great fishing trip out of Castaways Marina with Captain Rob Cooper, Santiva Charters. Half day trip booked through Fishing Bookers. Catch and release at our request.. Will keep if u want. Provided live bait. Caught Snook, Bluefish, Ladyfish, SeaTrout, Jacks. Rob knows the waters, rigs and baits for you. teaches if needed. Provided cold bottled water. Rob is a great guy, good company, good new boat, safe, competent, pleasant, gave my 16 y/o grandson a great time, found a feeding frenzy, showed us manatees and dolphins. What more could u want/

We like Old Florida places, and the efficiencies at The Castaways work well for our fishing outings. The marina is well-built and well-maintained, and Ricardo was welcoming and helpful. The ramp was handy, especially considering the strong onshore breeze that we'd have had to endure at the town ramps near the causeway ... and there was plenty of space available to store the trailer. The nearby restaurants are good, and the property extends across the road to the beach on the Gulf side.

This is the second time our family of four has rented kayaks from this marina. Bill is very helpful and honest. We tried to rent kayaks one morning and Bill advised against it because of the windy conditions. The following morning we called and the conditions were perfect. It is best to call ahead and make sure there are kayaks to rent. The water is perfect and both times we have had dolphins swim by our boats. Many birds and beautiful homes to see! Prices are reasonable and fun had by all. We will be back!

While the location was very good and there was access to a beach and it was pet friendly, the overall facility is very rundown. Our bathroom had tub caulking that was not only cracked but very rusty. The cushions on the sofa and dinette chairs were stained. The place needs a good overhaul. Would not recommend anyone staying here. Surely not worth the price.

Great place to get some live bait or fuel. Forget it if you have a bigger boat and especially if it is low tide. You need to know where you are going to miss the especially shallow areas.

We rented a couple kayaks for the morning and the process was so easy. The gentleman that assisted us was friendly and easy to work with. The kayak rental was easy and within minutes we were out on the water. Great place to rent kayaks!!!

Their website really didn't have info regarding rental rates for kayaks but Bill was very helpful and pleasant when I called. They are open on Saturdays from 7am to 5pm but don't rent kayaks past about 2 since they want to make sure you're back by closing. I was advised the price was $20 for a single kayak for 2 hours which was way better than anywhere else. We got there around 12:30 on Saturday. Unfortunately 2 single kayaks weren't available but it all worked out when we got the double for $30 for 2 hours. The gentleman who helped us was very pleasant and we actually got about a half hour extra included as well. Overall I was pleased with the experience and would recommend them for kayak rentals.

The Castaways Marina is very small but huge in charm and expertise of the fishing captains. Plus it is serene and beautiful on a small inlet of Pine Island Sound called a Sunset Bay. You can also rent a charming little cottage and practically fish from your doorsteps. Some of the cottages are across the street right in the Gulf of Mexico.

We embarked from here on a boat tour and fishing trip. Laid back classic Sanibel. Pelicans hanging out waiting for a free meal. Our buddy Joe B. and his trusty craft, at the ready for another day of fishing the skinny waters and cruising the bay. Heat, sun, and time to enjoy life converge in the simplicity of Castaways.

We took out Kayaks a couple of times whilst staying in the area. This is a nice place to set off from with three main routes of interest that we found. All the routes contain the resident wildlife, sometimes including white pelicans, roseate spoonbills, dolphins and manatee. If you're feeling energetic, you can even go through the Kayak route further North at Captiva. We found Riccardo at the Marina to be excellent in giving us all the information, advice and help we needed before we headed out...even re-assuring us that we weren't strictly being held to time (useful when Kayaking areas unknown, especially if you hit a breeze on the return journey!)
