Sanibel Public Library is undergoing "Your Library Reimagined" project. Both the beauty and the quality of the Library structure are outstanding, but it is time to replace much of the infrastructure. HVAC, fire suppression, plumbing, lighting, technology, and flooring are being upgraded for greater efficiency; sustainable design features are included with the upgrade. All Library services (like the shell exhibit, for example) may not be available at all times during the 2017 remodel. Updates to the project will be posted on Facebook and Twitter. Please call the Library before your visit if you have questions. The Library provides access to high speed WiFi, as well as printing services—no Library card required. If you do not live in Lee County Florida, you may purchase a Visitor Card for $10, good for one year. Use the Visitor Card to check out books, movies, cooking kits, museum passes, music, magazines, and more—up to 30 items at one time. Also use your Visitor Card to download eBooks, magazines and audiobooks, and stream movies and music through the Library's eShelf collection. Sanibel Public Library hosts programs for kids of all ages throughout the year including storytimes, makerspace events, and special guests. Events are listed at the Library's online calendar.

I enjoyed the historical shell exhibit while my husband made use of the “community” computers to handle a fancy unexpected paperwork request while we were vacationing on the island. They also have a book sale room with lots of free publications available, too.

Will be even better when the renovations are done and it is a place to spend quiet time especially on a wet day (hope there is a door planned for the kids section). Great value also as I have audio books I can download from...More

This library is easy and comfortable. It is a small island so it makes sense that the selection is small. The staff was nice although the children's librarian wasn't super knowledgeable about book recommendations for my kids. I saw that they had computers for public...More

We stopped by the library today. Pretty building. Modern. Interesting Children's area. Many places to play and explore. We use our libraries at home. Not as nice or inviting as The Sanibel Library.

Extensive remodeling is being done in several stages to make the library even more accommodating. I am unsure what is involved but visit and they will tell you.

We always stop by the Sanibel Public Library to browse through their resale book nook. There are paperbacks, hard cover books, music CDs, DVDs and magazines for sale at reasonable prices. It's currently under some kind of construction, so entrance is a little difficult to...More

Sanibel Library has a robust collection of beach reads, books on Florida, mysteries, and travel books. They also have an active computer room where folks can use the internet, and print.

The library is currently being renovated, and it will return to spectacular-nous- but for now it is merely a wonderful place to browse, surf the web, and read. When sitting and playing areas are back, it's the best rainy day spot around!
