I really don't want to use the term "cruise" but we enjoyed the pontoon boat, cruising the inner coastal, looking at the great houses, shell key and finally the sunset on the Gulf of Mexico. Word to the wise: take a jacket in the spring. No food/drink/offered on the boat, BYOB. The couple who captained the boat was very accommodating,... More

Go to the very southern end of Pass a Grille by the pier after high tide, when the water is calm and shallow, you will find more shells than here for free. We did find a few sand dollars, most a bit dinged up, which was nice, and we saw a manatee swim close to shore, plus saw dolphins, but... More

Take the Shell Key shuttle to Shell Key and spend the day strolling on the gorgeous, shell strewn beach. The tour provides snorkels, umbrellas, and bags for your shells. Staff were friendly and helpful, and we saw dolphins on the way. The fee includes a day parking pass, so you can walk over to the main beach and restaurants.great way... More

We had a great time here. The beach was not crowded and it kept our 12 and 10 year old busy for a few hours. They provide the bags for the shells, snorkeling masks, and a beach umbrella. They have 3 different shuttle times. The boat ride takes about 10 minutes one way. Bring beach towels and pack a cooler.... More

Decided to go to Shell key island and ride the shuttle over. Clean, friendly and knowledgeable people. Spent several hours at the beach collecting shells, sunbathing and just relaxing. The shuttle ride to the pier we saw dolphins and was able to watch them most of the way back. Price was $25 a person but they do give you a... More

Lovely couple 21 years in the making. Knowledgeable about the area and wildlife. Thoroughly enjoyable time. Lots of dolphin sitings. Great way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

You can make a day of it or stay just a couple of hours. They have snorkels and beach umbrellas included. Go early for the best shelling.

Had a great time shelling on Shell Key! Great service from the boat company -- found LOTS of shells. If you go to the more remote part of the beach - you might find some sand dollars... but allow for enough time to get back to the boat!

We loved our day shelling. Staff are very informative. They give you mesh bag for your shells and included in your tour cost is a rental fee for an umbrella and snorkel. Great island with clear water. Only negative is that a lot of boat traffic goes past the island though and also creates lots waves and cauzmotion.

Many sunset boating cruises include food and booze, music and dancing. If you after something more basic, and economical, this is it. We toured the inland waterway for 45 minutes and then, passing Shell Key, we stopped for the sunset over the gulf and the bottlenose dolphins. The weather was perfect; the sunset was beautiful; the dolphins were curious and... More
