Enjoyed the campground at the State Park. Large lots and great bathrooms with large showers It is quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed walking around sand duns and forest. We went back to main land for food. There was a Subway on the island

This March was our first visit to this lovely and tranquil spot on the Florida coast. We camped in the campground which is located on the far end of the park. Our site was spacious and private as it had good cover between us and the sites on either side of us. As a birder, I was thrilled with all... More

I have visited the park several times over the past few years and have been very impressed with the trails, parking, rest room facilities and exceptional beaches. However, until this year I had never traveled to the end of the island which is accessible by walking or biking. We parked at the last facilities and rode our bikes to the... More

Two of us cycled to the end of the park, through the campground, then back out. About 8 mile round trip. Very nice road condition for cycling, plus a low speed limit, always great for cycling! We found the park to be beautiful, gives you an idea of what the entire island looked like before being developed. There is a... More

Got a speeding ticket on 28 Feb that was uncalled for! I wouldn't complain, but they also stopped others during the same time. Someone told me that they were training an officer & we were chosen to be the trainers--took over 45 minutes to get the ticket after being stopped. Be very careful in the 15 MPR zone when it... When I visit SGI, I stay at about half a mile away from the park and often bike, run, hike, or kayak there. It is the most beautiful and serene place on the island! You can hike the East Slough trail (six miles if you go the whole way) or just take a stroll on the board walk. The road... More

Great facilities for picnics. Sheltered picnic tables, charcoal grills, restrooms (very clean and spacious). Best part of course was the beautiful beach.
