About
The present sanctuary was given by Henry Morrison Flagler and dedicated in 1890 as a memorial to his daughter Jenny Louise Benedict who died from complications from childbirth. Mr. Flagler, his first wife, Mary, daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum at Memorial. For almost 200 years, Memorial Presbyterian Church has not only remained a major figure in the St. Augustine skyline but also a major contributor to the community surrounding it. We are an active congregation with a full range of worship, music, education, mission, fellowship, and pastoral ministries. Memorial Presbyterian Church members are vitally involved in the life and work of the community and the church reaches into the community and, in concert with others, into the world with the good news of God’s love in Jesus Christ. The Sanctuary is open for self guided tours Tues - Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 3:45 p.m. unless we have a wedding or memorial service.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This church was advertised as one of the religious wonders of the US. It was pretty, and the stained glass was lovely, but I wasn't wowwed by the church. It didn't help that they were closed the first time we stopped by (even though they were supposed to be open) and we needed to return a second time to get inside.

What a beautiful church! Henry Flagler's final resting place, along with his wife, daughter, and granddaughter, is something to behold. Definitely make a stop to admire the absolute beauty and magnificence inside that is beautifully maintained and a place of worship today. We spoke with a docent who is a parishioner and learned several interesting facts while we visited. It's an awe-inspiring place.

Beautiful stunning church full of history. Free tour was interesting and the ladies that were there to answer questions were very helpful and informative. A must see. The red train trolley conductor was insistent on us seeing it and convinced almost the entire train full to disembark to see it. We were glad he did.

This church, designed by H. Flagler, is beautiful in design and architecture from the outside. The inside is more simple, although the lighting and stained glass windows are nice. Volunteers were present and helpful in answering questions. Was surprised with how simple and plain the mausoleum is for Flagler and some of his family. Worth visiting!

We would not have visited this church except that we parked down the street in another church parking lot and walked past on our way to the riverfront. So glad that we stopped in. This church was beautiful! From the stained glass windows to the pipe organ. The volunteers were very friendly & informative. Visit this lovely church that Mr. Flagler built in memory of his daughter.

Unbelievable that this could be a Presbyterian church it is that ornate and beautiful. Had a great opportunity to walk through the gardens surrounding the immense structure. Peaceful, serene with stunning views of the dome and stained glass windows. Highly recommend you stroll through here.

The most interesting, random, priceless, and weird collection of stuff I've ever seen. I guess this is what you can have if you have money to burn. So random.

A great story on how the church came to be. The Flagler family members are interred here. The stained glass windows are impressive. Architecture is unique as is the inside of the church.

The inside of the church is beautiful. As we walked inside a volunteer provided some of the history which was so informative. Henry Flagler is entombed here with one of his wives and a daughter. This church is a must see while visiting St Augustine.

Are animals allowed into the church? My family and I have very traditional beliefs that require animals to be a part of our worship service, so we need to know if we are allowed to bring our goat.
Also, are carving knives and buckets allowed in the church?

I'm going to say no. While practising your faith is a fundamental right here in America, I do not believe this church allows for such things, as they do not practise it themselves.

There is no cost to visit. Worth it to look at the details of the church and take your time while visiting

Our historic Sanctuary is open to visitors Mon thru Sat from 11AM until 3:45PM unless we have a Funeral/Memorial Service come up. Most weddings happen on Saturday - the Sanctuary would be closed to visitors then as well.
