- lazydayseeker1 contributionGreat craft distillery for bourbon loversAs bourbon lovers, we enjoy touring local places when we travel and experiencing various craft distilleries. We did the spirit of Florida bourbon tasting at St. Augustine Distillery. Our guide, Larry, was educational, informative, and funny. We have done multiple bourbon tours and learn something new each time. This was no exception. Highly recommend the St. Augustine Distillery and this tasting experience. Well worth the money to learn and taste Florida bourbon.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 9 November 2023

Or why the alcohol content of spirits is referred to as "proof"? Go to the Cocktail Crafting Experience, and you wil know the answer. You you also learn how to make two really great cocktails, and you will get a guided tour of the distillery. Really fun experience!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 17 December 2023

- Sonya19 contributionsThe $35 tour is worth it!This was an amazing place! I'm not s bourbon drinker, but we participated in the $35 bourbon experience and it was SO WORTH IT! We learned more from Mark in the one-hour, classroom style experience than we have anywhere else. It was informative, fun and interesting. Still not a bourbon drinker, but my husband and friends are definite bourbon stewards (not snobs).Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 21 January 2024

Curious about the distillation process? Find out more here. Several of my friends did try all of the drinks (gin, vodka, bourbon, and rum) and I think they felt a bit sick afterward, but we all loved this experience.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 22 January 2024

If you don't know if you like bourbon, this is a great place to learn more and taste all the different options of their own distilled bourbon. Very knowledgeable staff and the restaurant attached Ice Plant is both fun and very delish. Great friendly staff as well. Enjoyed the tour and the sampling of the various spirits made onsite which included a very nice botanical gin, rum, vodka, and bourbon. My husband and I walked in to a large empty room, except for two employees who were talking and completely ignored us. There were exhibits, photographs, samples of the ingredients used in distilling, etc. We wandered around a bit and finally approached one of the employees and asked if this was the whole exhibit. She mumbled something about another room & pointed. She then began telling us she had samples of some type of vodka, which we tried. I asked her again what we were to do once we saw that front room. She pointed to a screen across the room and said after you sign in, go into that room over there for the tour. We began to fill in our names on the computer screen, but when we didn't want to put our email, it wouldn't take the info. My husband pointed out that others were simply bypassing that step and moving on, so we left the screen and entered the actual distillery. There was one man stirring a large cauldron. We stood in front of him a few minutes, unacknowledged, so we assumed either he wasn't in the mood or that we misread our on line search that stated it was to be a guided tour. Possibly abandoned due to the Corona virus? Never did find out.
The final room, which is the real purpose of this entire experience, is where you are encouraged to buy the liquors. They are generous with the samples of any of the products they distill there, but the prices are really high.
It was a disappointing experience, totally unlike many of the reviews we read.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience! As a small, locally owned business, we take all feedback to heart. Since opening our doors in March of 2014, we have always offered a free guided tour. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, we have adjusted to a self-guided tour to encourage social distancing and adhere to CDC guidelines. We hope you once things return to normal for all of us, you will be able to return when we can provide our free, guided tour again. We love sharing our story, production process and, of course, spirits with you the way we always have!
We are truly upset to hear about your experience with our team members. Our number one priority is to make every guest feel welcome, share our passion for making the best spirits in Florida and have them leave as excited and inspired! We are exceptionally grateful for visitors like you, who seek to support local- especially during these unique times. If you would be willing, we would like to hear from you and learn more about your experience so we can share that information with the appropriate team members. Please email me at amanda@staugustinedistillery.com and we can arrange a time to talk or email. We would be grateful for the opportunity to make this right. Thank you!

We have visited St Augustine, FL for the past 6 years continuously, and kept the tradition going a couple weeks ago, despite a global pandemic. We felt that it was only right because we knew the city would take extreme measures to ensure safety during the COVID-19 pandemic and could certainly use the business. The same safety was of course used at the distillery.
However, in acknowledging the safety protocol, the same could not be said of the friendliness of the staff. This same staff, with which has been there every single visit we’ve had to the distillery. The usual extremely polite, very informative staff with which we’ve come to enjoy, was much more disdain and “put off” with the one thing that made you known; the customer/community and fantastic spirits.
I love the distillery and certainly the support of local/small business, however, this poor experience has me wondering if the staff is in full support of helping the community, or is just “showing up” for a job/paycheck and running through the motions of the typically great experience the distillery has to offer.
(I am only now writing this review on Trip Advisor for everyone to see, after I was responded to and then completely ignored to my concerns from the distillery. General Manager Matt Stevens must be too busy to respond to a concerned customer when Communications Manager Amanda Olivero stated that she would pass it on it him. Clearly they don’t care about the customer, nor community as much as they so “passionately” state. What a shame. I dislike giving a miserable review.

Kevin,
Thank you for following up! I want to apologize for the misunderstanding and offer reassurance that our guests and their experiences are absolutely a top priority for us! We are a very small team navigating a unique and busy season, and I want to thank you for your understanding as we work to make things right.
I'm so appreciative of your feedback and for giving us the opportunity to right the ship. We strive to create an inviting, exciting space for our visitors, and it is disheartening to hear this is not the warm welcome you received!
I believe Matt Stevens, our General Manager, followed up with you via email last week. He would love to connect with you over the phone to speak in detail about your experience and make things right. If you are comfortable, please give him a call at 904-615-3899. If there's any additional way I can help, please feel free to send me an email (I believe you have my email, but just in case it is amanda@staugustinedistillery.com).
Thank you again for supporting local and giving us the opportunity to grow as a business and improve guest experience! Cheers and happy holidays to you and yours.

The tour guide, Allen, was informative and entertaining and the bar crew pouring samples were over the top. The product was tasty, particularly the over-proof special release bourbon, "The Saint." This is a must-do in a town with already so much character.

Allan began the tour with a brief history of the building and the community involvement in creating the distillery. Then a short tour of the stills. And finally the tasting. We had three cocktails and then the opportunity to try each of the products without mixers. A fun tour and a generous amount of free booze. At the end there’s the opportunity to buy their products (both the liquor and mixers), but no sales pressure. The staff all seemed to be having a good time.

This place is awesome! We stopped in for the free tasting, and it was a LOT. They make a lot of different things there, so there is plenty to try. Overall you can taste 10 types of alcohol including 3 types of moonshine. Come after you’ve eaten something or you can definitely leave tipsy. We bought their orange cream moonshine, smooth and delicious over ice cream! A must visit if you enjoy tastings.

For a smaller scale distillery they have very impressive and high quality end products! The tour guides are a hoot! They enjoy what they do, and are proud to be a part of an award winning business. Tim was our guide and has a blast at what he does! When it comes to the sampling of their rum, bourbon’s, gin & vodka it’s more than just having a sample. You get an education right along with it, from a delightful person behind the bar! I personally have never liked gin... but I definitely liked their gin! Wow! There’s a very nice gift shop to purchase their products made, along with other cool items. The Ice House restaurant upstairs is a must to go to as well. Exceptional food, and drinks of course. No skimping on the food, and prices are reasonable, and worth it.

I am not much of a bourbon connoisseur but now have a knowledge of the making of this fine product.I would recommend this tour because it is informative, brief and to the point, and heightened with humor. Emily was a character in herself and made the experience all the more memorable.Absolutely do not leave St. Augustine without seeing this historic building.

I live in St Augustin and whenever I get guest (which is often) one of the fist places I take them is to the St Augustine Distillery. I can hear the tour over and over again and each time it is a different person's experience on the local history about the building, the neighborhood and the beginnings of the Distillery which is award winning. The end of the tour is the best where you sample the Vodka, Gin, Rum and even the Bourbon made right in that distillery. It is served with Pride from those that love to work there.

Got off the trolley at this stop for a tour and tasting. While waiting 15 minutes for the next tour to begin we read the museum type historical info. Relaxed tour guide offered good info on distillery process. Three cocktail tastings and then opportunity for those who wish to taste straight bourbon. Plenty of chance to make purchases.

Amber was an excellent tour guide when we chose to visit this distillery. She was full of information, very knowledgable, and answered ALL of our questions with obvious expertise. This place has only been open for 5 years and is in a historical location - preserving the original building. I'm not a bourbon fan - but the 2 guys with us were. Even I was fascinated to learn the whole process of preparing the rum and bourbon.
