This is definitely something everybody should see! We were so intrigued by this place, and the guide was good at telling the story of the jail. I must say, I am really glad I was not ever in this jail!!

The Old City Jail was built by Henry Flagler outside the city limits because he didn't want the existing jail next to one of his new resort hotels. Life was brutal and hard for the prisoners, which included hard labor in chains, and a hanging gallows. The sheriff lived in an adjacent house, which together with the jail formed a... More

I loved this tour. The guide played the role of a trustee detained in the jail and stayed in character throughout. His uniform was dirty and torn, he spoke as if he really lived there. It could be a good scared straight experience! It makes you realize how far the justice system has come. He even managed to interject humor... More

Based on the location next to Gator Bob's and the way staffers were dressed in striped prisoner uniforms, we were expecting the tour to be hokey and cheesy. It was anything but. The guide, Deputy Jimmy, not only put on a good show, he gave us so much information about what life was like in the prison for men and... More

We need jails today to be set up like this one. We would probably have a lot less crime if we did. This jail was hard time and work. Not like the country clubs we have today. We interesting and historic.

My family range from 4 to 45 years of age. We all loved to tour the Old Jail. The guide we got it was the prisoner. This guy tells you the story as he was in the actual jail more than 100 years ago. He was great and so much fun. Other tours get the sheriff. It was a great... More

Great little tour of the Old Jail. The tour offers a glimpse of life in a jail without electricity or running water. Interesting displays of guns used during the commission of a crime and items of contraband.
