The history and culture that created San Marcos are so intertwined with America's history with three countries fighting for control on the southern Atlantic coast. We were able to take a tour with a ranger. She was very well versed in the history of the fort and of St. Augustine. Very well preserved historical site.

After you have taken the picture of the fort looking over the water, you walk through a series of empty rooms and squint to see ancient scribbles. I visited St. Augustine partially for its rich history, but this didn't keep my attention.

What a great place to get a history lesson of old Florida. The park ranger presentation is extremely interesting and highlights the struggles of the people who founded this nation. The fort is well maintained and contains a great many artifacts dating back to the late 1500s. take the time the stairs to the top of the fort for some... More

We saw the brochure at our hotel and decided to check out Saint Augustine. What we didn’t know was how charming this historical city is with the fort, shops and restaurants. We spent an entire day exploring the fort and the surrounding area but I have to say this fort was the highlight. Since one of our coworker qualified as... More

Don't miss this historic site right on the water! Never crowded and at the edge of the Historic District.

Full of history and interesting to see but wish there was a guided or audio tour available. It could have been much more informative.

Most people don't know that St Augustine has been around since the early 16th century. The Castillo is a spectacular historical landmark, and beautifully preserved. Lots to see inside and around. The guides are superb.

Though I only live 30 minutes away from this fort and have visited so many times, I still learn something new every time. It's such and important historical place and resourse for our country.
