This is not a zoo! This is a wildlife sanctuary. Cash or check only. This sanctuary is run by volunteers. All donations go to the care of the animals. See white tigers, bears, a black leopard, birds, orangutan, panther, fox, etc. These animals have been neglected, abandon or seized. They live out their lives in the sanctuary. The experience is... A rustic wildlife sanctuary with a large collection of rescued animals; big cats, bears, birds, hyenas, monkeys, etc.

I've been to the Octagon several times; always take family when they come to town. The cages are within 8 feet of you and its a little scary! I love it everytime!

My husband and I spent an afternoon at this unusual zoo. It really is a rescue center for our large wildlife that have been abused or abandoned. You can see what a struggle it is for the owner to care, nurse and feed these animals and she deserves a lot of credit along with the volunteers. There is a small... More

The Octagon Animal Rescue is a non profit organization. They take in lions, tigers, bears, all sorts of abused or neglected animals. I hate to think about where these animals would be, if not for The Octagon. I do believe they could use some help. Dig deep if you are able to. I plan on volunteering here, when I become... More

Awesome place to take company and just go for a visit. More animals than you can believe and you are able to get up close. Wonderful place to spend an afternoon. Take a lunch and enjoy the day. Donations go to feeding the animals, etc. We love it!

Initial reaction to entry and parking was misleading, the rest of the adventure was great for young and old alike. Once past the very rustic entry one enters the jungle and as advertised their a great many big cats and other rescued animals. Literally 5 feet or less from their enclosures, you get to see those magnificent cats ! We... More

This place was a Great Experience! The children in our group range from ages 7-18 years old. It was neat being so close to wild and endangered animals. Although each animal had a biography posted outside their large cages, it would have been nice to have someone guide us through and talk to us about the different animals. The volunteers... More

Although the place looks slightly worn from the outside and is off the beaten track, it is well worth a visit! The experience was truely unique as you get to see the animals up close and see how your money really benifits the animals. As this is a sactuary for abused and neglected animals it is extremely eye opening and... More

This is a must-go if you live anywhere south of Tampa. The volunteers are helpful in answering questions, and obviously love their animals. Many animals were sadly mistreated and now they are in the best place possible, healthy and taken well care of. One of the volunteers we talked to called it the "retirement" home. We are going to go... More
