My wife and I took the bikes out of the trail and loved the peace and quiet. This is a very long trail that spans at least two counties. You can really take a long ride if you want to. There is a lot of shade from the overhanging trees. Definitely worth checking it out. Happy trails

We've ridden this trail and still like it. Mileage markers are clearly visible and rest benches are placed in idea places.

We biked about 8 miles of the trail starting at the north end going south. The trail was mostly shaded. Some open areas to view swamps. It was nice the trail was marked with mile markers. Bathrooms at the north near the lot. We enjoyed our leisurely ride in the am befoe it got too hot. We are geocachers and... More

The Van Fleet Trail is a very well maintained trail and is a smoothly, paved almost perfectly straight trail with no elevation change at all. There are restrooms and water fountains located at trail heads along the trail. There are also some benches along the way as well. It is checked by citizen patrols for anyone needing assistance. And local... More

Every day that we rode this trail we experienced some form of wildlife, from alligators, snakes and wild boar babies to as many birds as you could name. Loved it! Always felt safe, great restroom facilities, very flat and well traveled. I will be back next winter.

This is a smooth trail that a road bike can be used. Wildlife everywhere. Turtles, gators, deer, and many kinds of birds. the tall trees shade the way most of the 29 miles day. There are some towns along the way that have some food to eat.

Did my first 20 miles on Van Fleet Trail this morning and it was spectacular. I love this rail-trail! Started at Mabel trailhead and came across a gopher turtle in my 1st mile. Ran into white tail deer in the 2nd mile.. And it's hunting season. This trail is teeming with wildlife. Smooth, flat, straight, and in the middle of... More

The General James Van Fleet State Trail is a well maintained multi-use 29 mile trail through a beautiful, natural landscape. We generally begin our ride in Mabel on SR 50. It is one of the lesser used trailheads and starts with a beautiful shaded path for about 10 miles before passing through the Green Swamp where gators, snakes, and gopher... More

Peaceful, shaded, quiet. We parked at Polk City trail head and went north for about 15 miles and then back. The restrooms at mile 10 (Green Pond Rd) are proper restrooms. The ones at 1/2 mile are glorified porta pottys & not so great. May park at Golden Pond Rd next time and head further north this time.
