If you are european its very new and nothing special but for Florida residents its an extremely old part of their history. The congregation must be one of the richest in the world and the upkeep reflects that. look out for all the vultures on the roof early evening. They also have a very nice Xmas display in the grounds.

Compared to the old churches we have visited in Europe, Bethesda is not remarkable. However, it is the most "European" church in Florida. The stain glass windows are beautiful. The pipe organ is large and I wish I could hear it being played. If you visit the Flagler Museum this is close by and worth a stop.

Bethesda-by-the-Sea is beautiful Episcopal Church by the Lake Worth Lagoon in Palm Beach, Florida. Built in 1925, it's history goes back to 1889. It is the oldest house of worship in Palm Beach. The church consists of the main building in gothic revival style surrounding a courtyard. The gardens in the back are lovely. Make sure you go to the... More

Stopped here as we strolled county Avenue on Palm Beach. The church is very nicely done. Not quite as glamorous as those in Europe, but the Stainglass windows on the concrete walls give a very majestic feeling. Make sure to go through the gardens that are on the side of the church. They are really pretty and for a quarter... More

What else can I add? The Reviewers' descriptions & photos say it all. I have admired & appreciated the magnificent architecture of many churches & gardens, but never a property like this. The stately Gothic exterior is a head-turner. Inside the quietly stunning sanctuary ~ nothing pretentious here. Meaningful ornate accents are appropriately placed so that the simplistic beauty stands... More

If you are visiting Palm Beach, Florida, you have to take time to see the Flagler museum, the Breakers, Worth Avenue and Bethesda-By-The-Sea. The first church in Palm Beach County, Bethesda-By-The-Sea stands yards from the Atlantic Ocean at the corner of North County Road and Barton Avenue. The Episcopal Church is the oldest house of worship in Palm Beach, dating... More

PROS: Easy access to chapel, gardens, gift store. Very friendly staff. Gardens were pretty, with a koi pond that had some huge koi in it. If you don't sit down to meditate or have some contemplative time, you can experience this place in under an hour. CONS: We could not be there for one of their services, so I feel... More
