Only been through here 3-4 times, but I really enjoyed my time there. I've walked the pathways and done a few Kayak trips. The upper side of the creek is the most natural and beautiful. The bottom half is more houses and back yards, but...More

Great length of boardwalk and lots of sandy trails. The creek had tons of turtles all sizes and we saw a osprey. It has a lot of shade for walking when the weather is warm. Surprised by how big the sanctuary was.

My wife wanted to get some shopping in, so I dropped her off at Macy's and to Turkey Creek. I went in with no expectations, but grabbed a self-guided tour sheet which identified interesting flora throughout the sanctuary, which is almost all boardwalk. I was...More

Wonderful little local treasure We love exploring these types of local treasures when traveling. They are so much better than unpredictable and boring experiences in hotel gyms. We visited on a Sunday morning, when the sun was burning off the early fog. The boardwalk made...More

Turkey Creek is a wonderful place to walk. It has had some damage from hurricanes the past couple of years but the crew has done a good job restoring the boardwalk and clearing the downed trees. It is a great place to visit for any...More

This is a really nice place to get away from the madness and to enjoy some fresh air on a nice long Boardwalk! It's best to go when it's cooler, either in the cool months or in the early morning. You might spot some gopher...More

Some lovely nature preserved by the boardwalk. You can still hear the highway, unfortunately, but the running water, great blue herons, and woodpecker that I heard/saw really lifted the spirits.

Always a nice walk through here. They've been repairing some of the boardwalk and it looks great! Great to see the turtles and tortoises along the walk. There's a few trails off the boardwalk if you're not afraid of getting dirty. If you love nature,...More

Good place to spend a half day hiking. Easy walking on the boardwalk and a little more challenging trail off the boardwalk. Good opportunity to see wildlife and native plants. Bring plenty of water and a snack if you plan to stay awhile.

No. There are no wheelchairs available for rent. However, the grounds and boardwalks are wheelchair friendly.

Yes there are, as long as you stay on the boardwalk trails. I don’t remember seeing any on the “natural” trails.

There is a mountain biking path alongside the sanctuary but it's maintained by the park district and I'm not certain if the upkeep is all that good . But I do know it's a medium level path with pretty rough terrain . Not for... More
