Driving through narrow lanes, this manor was a hidden gem. No airs or graces but good information boards as you walk in. Walking up the narrow, steep stairs, you could almost feel the history through the walls.

This place is tucked away down some very narrow lanes. Very quiet, we were the only ones there! Interesting local history in the room downstairs and then you climb up to the first floor rooms.

Eventually found the Manor, interesting little place to visit on the way to or way back from somewhere. No facilities but would be good for a family picnic and soooo quiet :-)

No, this isn't somewhere to make a special trip to, but it is most definitely worth a detour. None of the usual National Trust rigmarole here - no tea shop, no shop at all, no entrance fee, and not even any staff. Just an exceptionally...More

Drove quite a bit out of the way to visit this site and I was so disappointed. The building, while very historic, consists of two main rooms with nothing in them. There are a few information boards, but that's it. Place isn't even manned. Was...More

Although not serviced by guides, the property is well documented in a small museum just before you enter what remains of a medieval home. You get a wonderful sense of how people lived in the lower echelons of the privileged classes.

Old Soar Manor was built in 1290 during the reign of King Edward I. It was extraordinary to see what the home of a wealthy family was like back then. The house is in good shape and there is adequate material to explain its construction...More

Old Soar manor is a small, fortified stone house that is hard to find, accessible only by narrow and twisty lanes and is one of the Trust's smallest attractions. I can well understand how some reviewers have felt underwhelmed because all that remains is an...More

If you're near, it's worth popping in but I wouldn't bother travelling too far to see it, there are only a couple of rooms and whilst it is interesting, it doesn't take long to look around. It's quite easy to miss as the sign is...More
