Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are looking for serene nature and narrow waterways with a canopy of mangroves, this is not it. Too many boats and too many buildings lining the shoreline. Better to go somewhere where it is not so industrialized. Rented a canoe there, as well. Was billed it as a four person canoe, but it only had two seats, so any extra passengers had to sit on the bottom.

We rented a pontoon from Rose Marina for the day. We did not make it quite as far around the islands as we "planned" but we had no idea what to expect even after weeks, maybe months, of research. We saw dolphins in a wild feeding frenzy right next to the boat, quite a treat. There was time to circle around a few keys and float about here and there. Fantastic experience.

If you enjoy nature and beautiful birds, take a ride to the Marsh Trail at about 5-6p.m.
There are so many birds coming in to roost for the night it reminds you of an airport!
We saw egrets, herons of all types, spoonbills and so many more. We saw hundreds of ibis roosting in the trees. The trail is not well marked from the highway, but it is well worth checking out

We enjoyed this hike, It is about 2.4 miles round trip. Large alligators, that sometimes are in the road. You can bike it, but only about the first 1/2 is paved, the rest is old fossilized rock. This was originally an oil exploration road. Don't bring your dogs to feed to the Alligators. Some of the alligators are pretty big, and lurk very near or on the road. Not safe for children. We saw one in the road that was about 11 feet long, which had a man and woman getting within ten feet of it to take pictures. Not the smartest thing to do. Has a lookout tower. Places to rest. No shade.

Not too far south from Naples on Rte 41 you can find this nice trail. There is paved parking, but no facilities.
The observation tower is not too far from the parking lot and an easy walk. Ramped up to the first level and then a set of stairs to the upper level. Nice views of the mangroves and marsh from the tower.
If you continue down the trail there are openings along the way where you can observe various bird species and alligators.
On this day we were fortunate to observe an American Crocodile basking in the sun. We were told "he/she" has been sighted for the last several weeks. A first for us and quite exciting. Quite a row of teeth, indeed.
We did not walk to the end of the road. We are told it is about a mile and a half. Bring water if you plan on making the 3 mile round trip.

We chartered a boat one day during our stay in Naples. On one of our stops, our captain dropped us on one of the 10,000 islands. The seashells we collected were absolutely incredible! Everyone enjoyed the experience.

We have been to ten thousand islands many times because of its enormous size. For bird lovers the Marsh Trail is 11 miles south on rte 41 from the intersection of Collier Blvd. The parking lot is on the right and it is paved.Big enough for 25 cars. This trail is paved for the first 1/4 mile until it reaches an observation tower which has a ramp up to the first floor. There one can see alligators and a wide variety of birds. We have seen wood storks,Roseate Spoonbills, egrets, glossy ibis, white ibis, osprey, ducks, and a variety of herons. The rest of the trail is stone thus it is dry.But there is only a limited amount of birds after the tower. As for the ten thousand islands try to take a boat tour thru the mangrove forest.A spectacular view.

My family and I (including 6 adults, 2 teenagers, and 2 smaller children) decided to walk the trail one Saturday afternoon. The weather was nice and we saw lots of different birds (cranes, egrets, herons, a kite, and a falcon) plus lots of fish and a few alligators. The view from the short tower was nice and the total trip out and back couldn't have lasted more than a couple of hours (which was great for pushing a stroller out and back). The trail itself winds through the mangroves and there were a few gumbo limbo trees, pond apples, willows, and wax myrtles along the way. Toward the end of the trail the ecosystem changed to more of a pine prairie and we spotted a few thistles. All in all the flora and fauna on this free nature trail are well worth a look and especially so if you have children with you. Bring your camera and enjoy a safe and relaxing afternoon in the great outdoors!

This is one of the best excursions you can do in South Florida and a definite MUST for anyone who loves & collects shells. The only way to see these islands is by boat and there are only a handful of companies that do it well. Be sure to book the tour that goes in a small boat (they take a maximum of 5 people) and they know the area and will offer you different choices depending on your interest. There are many Osprey Nests in the Winter Months and other nature sightings year round (Dolphins and oodles of Shore Birds as well as Raptors). But the islands and the shelling is the Best Part! Be sure to bring a small cooler with drinks (water) and some snacks. It can get hot very quickly and you will get the most painful sunburn if you don't wear the proper covering especially on your back and neck from bending down to pick up shells). Sunscreen is a MUST! Water shoes are a must as well. It's easy to get caught up in the moment while picking up shells and time flies quickly so be sure to try and book a longer tour. You will also need something to place all your shells in. I find that the small vinyl type grocery bags (the ones you pay extra for to use multiple times) work best. You may also want to bring another small plastic bag to put the more precious & breakable shells in. Make sure you book way in advance as these tours sell out quickly. If you think you can just hook this when you arrive in Florida I guarantee you will be disappointed. You need to book weeks and months in advance especially during high season!

Hard to find via GPS. Lots of birds and nice walk. Not much more. Lookout tower is the high lite of the walk.

Can I bring a 9-month-old baby? she is sitting in a carrier on the back with one of the parents. If this is possible, should she also pay a ticket?
