Good place to visit to learn the history of Naples

Very informative tour of Palm Cottage by one of the volunteer guides. Fascinating to hear how Naples has developed into the thriving place it is today.

I was unsure that my nieces (8 and 11) would be patient through the tour of the Palm Cottage, but they both surprised me with how excited they became to learn about Naples's oldest house. Props to the docents and their abilities to make history fun for everyone!

If you plan on spending any time in Naples and have already gotten your tan give your skin a break and visit this gem. A great introduction to the history of this town before it became a haven for the wealthy. Hopefully Fran is still giving tours when you visit. She's knowledgeable and gracious without the pretense of many docents.

This is definitely a don't miss activity while in Naples. The docent tells such a wonderful story about the people who had a vision of what Naples could be. These were people who traveled by difficult means to reach this part of Florida. The home itself holds so many memories and the many pictures displayed puts a face to each... More

Excellent tour of a lovely home, Palm Cottage, one of the oldest buildings in historic Naples. The tour is a fun activity to learn about the history of Naples and only takes 45 minutes. A beautiful garden is also on the grounds. Go online to schedule a tour, get there a few minutes early, parking can be hard to find.... More

Oldest building in Naples , and the grounds are to die for !! Sweet place to visit , a little expensive though you can expect to pay 15$ per for a guided tour ... if you stretch it you can be there for an hour and half ... small children will not be interested long .... but it is a... More

I've been to this charming old house twice this season with two differnt groups of friends. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the visits and learning about the founding years of Naples in the late 1890's and forward. The docents are well informed and tell a lively story of the inhabitants of this lovely home and the early years of Naples. Don't miss... More

The tour of Palm Cottage takes about 45 minutes and teaches participants about the history of Naples in a hands-on, engaging way. It reminds you of how recently this part of Florida was developed. If you like old photographs, there are lots on the walls to enjoy at your leisure on the second floor. The docent was friendly and very... More

The Palm Cottage is the oldest house in Naples Fl. The tour included a tour of the whole house and grounds. The guide was very informative, giving details on the wall construction at time,to the type of wood used for the floors and staircase. Many old pictures depicting what the area looked like in the late 1800's.After the house tour,we had... More

A friend and I both enjoyed our informative tour of Palm Cottage. Our docent was very knowledgeable and kept the attention of our group, which included two young girls, for nearly an hour. If you go on this reasonably priced ($13.00 for adults) tour, you will learn about the history of Naples itself, not just about Palm Cottage. We also... More
