The oldest cypress swamp in the WORLD and the largest Wood Stork rookery in the USA! An absolute fabulous place to spend quality time with old Florida landscape. The winter months are the best for birders from around the world. One will always have an...More

I gave my 11 year old the option of this or the Nature Conservancy. I was shocked but pleased that she picked this. We are not bird watchers so wasn’t sure what to expect. I was also surprised that she enjoyed looking for specific flora...More

I really hate to write a negative review about Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary. It has been one of my favorite places and I have visited many times over the years (starting before they built the fancy visitor’s center). My visit in January 2019 was ruined by...More

The boardwalk provides easy access to the area, there are two options for the length of the walk. There were many birds and for me there was a woodpecker who was very close to the boardwalk and a lot of fun to watch. Bugs were...More

1st time visit for us. Recommend utilizing the informative guides, especially if visiting for the first time. Nice 2.5 mile walk through incredible terrain that strikes a delicate balance for nature to thrive. Witnessed alligators, beautiful majestic birds, and colorful flora in all their glory....More

Corkscrew is an outstanding place to visit. My first piece of ADVICE is avoid their tours, especially if this is your first visit. Walk the 2.5 mile boardwalk and experience nature. Don't waste time listening to their lecturers. During our recent visit we did one...More

Thank you for visiting and offering advice to others. We do, however, recommend our guided walks even for first-time visitors. We ask our volunteer tour guides to limit their walks to about 1.5 hours. A few of them exceed that recommended length, so we agree...More

Much of the SW Florida coast is beaches, golf, and shopping. We needed a nature fix, and this preserve is phenomenal! The 2+ mile boardwalk is great as it winds thru the swamp. Bring a pair of binoculars, and look for other guests who are...More

We’ve walked to Corkscrew Boardwalk a few times. It’s a fascinating saunter thru an old Florida wildlife swamp. Lots of alligators and wood storks. They are fascinating to watch. We were also fortunate enough to observe various birds and at least one snake.
