This small, volunteer run museum is well done with an interesting array of period pieces and historical information on this most historic town dating back long before most Florida towns. A small book store is also available.

The last time we were in Micanopy was about two years ago and they had just opened up the museum. There is a lot more things there now compared to then. It was very interesting, starting with the Indians that were in the area. And the locals that had settled and made up Micanopy.

A fantastic overview of the regions history. Volunteering staff gave us the most fantastic history lesson as well, a big thanks to Marilyn, Al and of course Patty. We'll be back!

I went with a group of club members & family. We had a great time. I was shown tools & kitchen utensils that I never saw before.

I was here during a solo overnight visit to Micanopy. When I went in I was the only visitor. The docent "Pat" was great! She took time to fully explain the history of the area as well as the many artifacts in the museum. Without her detailed descriptions I would not have enjoyed it nearly as much, so many thanks... I heard about this museum from a University of Florida employee conducting a survey at the entrance to the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlins museum. After driving for what felt like forever, we finally arrived and I am glad we found it. The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. They have information and artifacts about the Native Americans of the region and... More

Taking a trip to Micanopy is like taking a trip back in time. Leave your stresses at the main road when you enter this small town and just relax. People are friendly and a lot of history to explore.
