Brings lots of water and good walking shoes. Lots of hiking trails. Wooded area. Observation decks. Lots of water fowl, horses, wildlife. Peaceful and relaxing. Well-maintenance. Very clean. Ample parking. Informative visitors center. Pretty area.

There was a lot to see in the park. From many birds to other animals such as deer the wild horses and some alligators. Saw all of those but was unable to find the bison but saw signs of them every where. I do recommend...More

If you're in the Gainesville area you must go. Take your friends/family if they come to visit you. At the observation point, I saw two alligators. To get into the Payne's Prarie area, it's $6 per car. So, carpool if you can.

Paved walk only a couple hundred feet from tent sites.

You MIGHT be able to see one from the Observation Tower by the Visitors Center. We were up there yesterday and saw 2 wild horses. You would need very strong binoculars. We may have seen a bison, but too far away to tell.
