We drove down Collins Ave to observe and enjoy the architecture of the Art Deco buildings. They are colorful, beautiful and mostly restored. Its fun watching people from all over the world driving and walking, biking, scootering and generally having a great time.
The place is dotted with numerous hotels and resorts on one side while a gorgeous looking beach on the other side. Beach chairs n towels can be rented out by paying a premium amount else request it from the hotel you staying at.
Stay on the ocean side of Collins Ave if you can spring for it. Beach and pools for you and then step out the front for restaurants and shops. All walking distance. We stayed at The Shores Resort and explored the areas of South Beach...More

Yea definitely Ocean Drive if you want to be right in the middle of the action. Collins is the street behind so its not a bad option either. The Rock Hostel is always doing tons of fun party activities.

No reason to worry- at least not at daytime and during night time I would try to have company. Other than that, I personal would not be worried at all. It is the party zone and you may meet some unusual people. However... More
