Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Almost every visitor to Miami will come to see Little Havana and famous Calle Ocho. Although imo this is a tourist trap, where everything's money oriented and nothing authentic, this small park in the middle of Calle 8 differs from that.
It's a cute covered area with several tables where locals gather to play domino and chess. They're pretty loud, arguing about the game, making jokes and friendly with visitors.

Interesting!

How to get there? In the famous 8th Street in the corner with SW 15th Ave, in Little Havana. Is next to the Old’s Havana restaurant.

Opening Hours: 24 hours, but not sure if you will see people playing during the night.

Cost: no cost.

Experience: a fun part in Cuba’s culture where Cubans get together and play Domino. Not sure if anyone can play, I did not ask. It is a very small park but has restrooms for the players and some murals that make it colorful and some small creatives designs related to the game. The place did not see crowded and has enough tables to play but all of them were busy. If you are visiting Little Havana you can just pass through, I really do not think you need to visit this place if you are not in the area.

Duration: less than 20 minutes.

Domino Park in Little Havana is a busy little area where locals gather to play dominoes. There is a welcome center booth there to get some brochures and info.

this is the right place where to go if u wanna see the old Cubans playing their favourite hobby: domino! according to our guide: this should had been a dangerous place above all if u took pictures thats why we were a bit worried when we got there but the welcome we received left us speechless.
so many nice and kind old Cubans that were playing domino and that invited us to take all the pictures we wanted (for free, of course) and who enjoyed telling us tales and stories about the past and their beloved Cuba.
great place

Domino Park was created by the cubans in Little Havana because of their love for DOMINOES...They play daily from sunrise to sunset...they are loud and kings in trash talk. Great place!

Maximo Gomez Park - or Domino Park, as the locals call it - doesn't look like much of a park. There's no grass, it is enclosed in a cage-like fence, and it abuts a McDonald's. Inside are rows of all-weather tables and chairs bolted to the ground. Some of them are marked for chess, but most have built-in trays to hold dominos.

There is a booth with a guard in it near the entrance; it is marked "tourist information," but it is unclear what information he is able to provide. He keeps the sliding glass partition shut, so it's hard to ask him.

Signs are posted everywhere listing prohibitions: no eating, no drinking, no smoking, facilities are for club members only (it doesn't specify what club). Tourists are allowed in.

So, what was once an organic expression of the city's populace has devolved into a gawk-fest. The 30 or so mostly-aged players throw their bones (double-9 sets played with Cuban rules in teams of 2), and a charter bus pulls up to the curb and disgorges another batch of tourists who signed up for some "genuine Little Havana experience." It would be analogous to bringing buses of people to stare at the guys playing chess in New York's Washington Square Park (please don't tell me if they've started doing that since the last time I was there). When there are a handful of outsiders, respectfully observing a local custom, it's fine. When they outnumber the people they have come to see, it is sad.

So, swing by, check it out, but try to be subtle. The spirit of Little Havana is still here, but it is in danger of being drowned in a sea of touristas.

I wasn’t a fan of this area, a definite one and done place. However I did really enjoy watching lots of folks play dominoes here. Looked fun.

This has to be on the top five things to experience in Little Havana. All these older gentlemen playing dominos with such intensity, I wish I could have stayed longer but even if you have just a few minutes, while you finish the ice cream you will have picked up at Azucar( try the Abuela Maria) do stop by, it is so very authentic and reminded me of my trips to Cuba. Do not miss it.

These Cuban gentleman who frequent the park take the game-Domino very seriously. Its a game of strategy and faking out the opponent in order to get ride of your Domino stacks quickly. You can see the seriousness in the eyes and the faces of the old gentlemen who are playing the game. If you stand there long enough to watch them play, you can actually pick up some pointers on how to play this game. They also have some people selling goods, such as peanuts/mani, or little souvenirs and trinkets. This is a nice park.
