Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Situated in little Havana, this museum is a must do especially if you do not know much about what happened in Cuba. From the minute you walk in you are welcomed by friendly informative staff. We booked a tour in advance online. We watched a short film about the events that occurred at the bay of pigs and at the end we met someone who was actually there Carlos and we were able to ask questions about anything. It was amazing to get first hand knowledge. I just wish we allowed more time. The museum is free, but do leave a donation at the end to help with the new extensions they are planning.

I walked in to this small unassuming space with very low expectations and even lower knowledge about Cuba and the bay of pigs. Had the absolute pleasure of spending a few hours with Carlos and walked out feeling humbled and honoured to have met him and shared this time together. Went with my 15 year old son who was fascinated to hear the decisions Carlos was making at his age when the biggest call most teenagers these days have to make is if you’re PlayStation or Xbox. Carlos exudes charm, hospitality and pride and the stories he had to tell were incredible. 100% worth the trip. Thank you Carlos

The day I stopped by, there were several veterans at the Meseum. Watching the short documentary, hearing the vets' stories, and a guided tour from the meseum historian brought history to life. If you like history, this should be a stop on your list.

We visited this small Museum in Little Havana in early December. It may look closed but it is probably open----a buzzer will unlock the door for you. Few artifacts remain from a disaster where everyone is either killed or captured from a country that we have not recognized for over fifty years. It is a small wonder that few things are displayed. The staff took a dim view of John Kennedy. Hard to blame them. They had trained to go in through a small town with dock facilities. Kennedy changed their destination to a swamp with only one or two roads out that could be easily defended-----changed it within 36 hours of the invasion!!! After the first wave hist the beaches Kennedy also decided to cancel air cover. It was suicide and sure defeat. If anything this museum explains those things.

Sad bit of our history in which we sent a brigade of men trained by the CIA, into Cuba, they were supposed to land in another part of Cuba, but at the last minute it was changed, also they forego the air support and over 50,000 Cuban troops waited for them in shore, it is one of the biggest debacles that our Country has made by endangering these men's lives, which only a few made it through. Sad

The museum itself is a Veteran's Hall for members of the Actual CIA-trained Brigade members who were sent to Cuba and who were defeated in the Bay of Pigs.
While visiting, I met a radio operator who was in the invasion. Another man there authored a book titled, "After the Bay of Pigs." His mother negotiated with Fidel Castro for the release of the men who were taken prisoner in Cuba following the invasion.
Though small, the museum features a well displayed and archived collection of authentic artifacts from the invasion.
Because of the opportunity to meet the men who actually fought in the Bay of Pigs at this location, I rate the museum very high. Where else can one have such an opportunity? The men who visit this museum were trained in the early 1960s by the CIA to serve as what we today call Navy SEALS, in the Bay of Pigs event.
It's a mysterious part of American history that we can all learn the truth about at this location, from the actual men who carried out the invasion.
What an opportunity.
Free parking in Miami too.
If I had a young child who was interested in history, I would encourage them to do a project about the Bay of Pigs. What resources.
The museum is incredible because it serves as a Veteran's Club for the men who served the Bay of Pigs Invasion. The surviving men live in the area which surrounds the museum. Wow.
All that is asked is donations.
I sincerely wish the best for the men who support this museum. I hope others will donate more artifacts and add to the collection.
Americans need to understand what happened in this era of our history. The Bay of Pigs situation is similar to modern-day political war scenarios.

The museum is dedicated to the 1961 Bay of Pigs Invasion of Cuba. The exhibit inside consists of mostly photographs of the many people who fought, and artifacts, new paper clippings, and magazines covering the event. It is small but interesting. There also seems to be a community center gathering hall inside, the people inside were very friendly and welcoming.

We visited this museum by taking a taxi from the Miami Airport at a cost of $22. Another option is to take the free Miami Trolley if you aren't in a rush. The museum may be easily missed as it is similar to the residential houses in the neighbourhood. We attempted to visit on a Sunday, and unfortunately it was closed. The museum was reputed to have good displays on the Bay of Pigs conflict. This was a pivotal time in the lives of all Cubans, as the defeat of "Brigade 2506" in 1961, by the new Cuban regime made the Cuban refugees in the USA start thinking of their stay as permanent, rather than temporary.
In Cuba, it strengthened the resolve of the Government, and made them more suspicious of the USA, thus leading to stronger ties with the Soviet Union. The following year was one of the most controversial incidents of the "cold war", when Soviet missiles were moved to Cuban shores. All these incidents are related, thus making the Bay of Pigs an unforgettable historical event. If you continue walking east on SW 8th Street, a monument which is topped by an eternal flame, can be viewed in the northern section of the Cuban Memorial Boulevard Park. This Park also includes a monument to Nestor 'Tony' Izquierdo who was a soldier in Brigade 2506.
Other nearby attractions include Domino park, Walk of fame and the many f&b offerings.
