Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only sub-tropical zoo in the continental United States.

The unique climate in South Florida allows us to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa, representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country.

Zoo Miami today occupies almost 750 acres, and is home to more than 3,000 animals representing over 500 different species. Of this population, more than 40 species are classified as endangered. The zoo also houses more than 1,000 species of trees, palms and other plants, and over 100 special exhibits showcasing a broad number of species and scientific topics.

We are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) which means we have passed a rigorous application and inspection process and meet or exceed the AZA's standards for animal health and welfare, fundraising, zoo staffing, and involvement in global conservation efforts.

Zoo Miami is proud to be an active leader in many global wildlife and environmental conservation initiatives, and we are currently involved in over 36 projects taking place on six continents.

I was on a family vacation with two young children (4 and 2) and we were deciding on attractions with animals. There were five options: Zoo Miami, Jungle Island, Monkey Jungle, Miami Seaquarium, and Zoological Wildlife Foundation. Zoo Miami was the most affordable, so we went with that. For our family of four, with the 2yo free, it cost us... More

Zoo Miami Is beautiful. My son and I had a wonderful time at the zoo. There is a lot of walking so wear comfortable shoes. A lot of people rented the 4-5 person bike trolley, but we were fine with walking. We attended the show in the amphitheater and it was an awesome quick show and y son got to... More

If you like to walk go, animals are well treated, some areas need to be update or renew. Food prices are kind of expensive. But is a nice experience.

What can I say? There weren't that many people so it wasn't crowded so there wasn't too much traffic. My favorite exhibit was the new everglades section only because of the otters becuse they were unstoppable and cute. Two things I didn't like were the giraffe feeding and the overall aspect of the majority animals. I think 5 dollars for... More

It's one of the best zoos we have visited. It seems to have made improvements over the years. It could be better if included all the activities and services such as the shuttle and small rides in the admission price.

One of the best zoos we've been too! Wasn't very busy, so parking was easy. Buying online tickets let us bypass the ticket booth. Animals were healthy and had plenty of room to roam, staff was helpful, restrooms were clean. Loved the idea of bike rentals to get around the park, however we did not rent one. Lots of walking!!... The Miami Zoo is huge. It will take you 4 hrs to see it all. The cost is around $22, free parking. Walking it is good exercise, or rent a bike. The one downside with any zoo is when animals were not there or missing. More often than not, they were not seen. This zoo has a great Everglades section... More

Go, but spend the day. The Zoo is huge. If you go early, there is less of a crowd. By noon, it gets pretty busy and field trips are common. There are strollers and bikes to rent, but the lines are long. So, I suggest bringing your own stroller. The best food is towards the cloud forest. Also, bring swimsuits.... More

My youngest grandson celebrated his 1st birthday by going with his parents, older 2 year old brother and us his grandparents. The zoo is truly a unique experience and great place to visit and spend the day. To see all of the zoo and attractions, one needs more than one day. The animal exhibits are great and well maintained and... More

We spent a very good time. Everything was very nice, animals, exhibitions, etc... The zoo is very big, and there are a lot of people, especially the weekend... also schedule to do it in the morning. As I said, the park is big, and sometimes not easy to navigate ! Possibility to rent a quadricycle, maybe easier to visit the... More
