Overview
More
Zoo Miami (also known as The Miami-Dade Zoological Park and Gardens) is the largest and oldest zoological garden in Florida, and the only sub-tropical zoo in the continental United States. The unique climate in South Florida allows us to keep a wide variety of animals from Asia, Australia and Africa, representing a broad mix of species that is unlike any other zoo in the country. Zoo Miami today occupies almost 750 acres, and is home to more than 3,000 animals representing over 500 different species. Of this population, more than 40 species are classified as endangered. The zoo also houses more than 1,000 species of trees, palms and other plants, and over 100 special exhibits showcasing a broad number of species and scientific topics. We are accredited by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA) which means we have passed a rigorous application and inspection process and meet or exceed the AZA's standards for animal health and welfare, fundraising, zoo staffing, and involvement in global conservation efforts. Zoo Miami is proud to be an active leader in many global wildlife and environmental conservation initiatives, and we are currently involved in over 36 projects taking place on six continents.

I always enjoy visiting the Miami Zoo with the kids and wife . Renting the family hike is a most and taking the kids to splash with water in the Amazon area. The new Everglades section with alligators is amazing but I recommend visiting this...More

Went to this zoo after booking through viator. The giraffe experience was a lot of fun however we got four two tickets and because of the time between the encounters and the length of time it takes to get each one we couldn’t utilize all...More

Each year as we Snowbirds visit Miami, the Miami Zoo is a 'must' visit destination. The zoo is always clean and continually updates and adds attractions. The day we visited, the temp were in the mid 70's which necessitated the 'water" part of the Everglades...More

We went on a Monday when it was very quiet..cost $60 for a family of 3, but that's just to get in...if you want to hire a bike, min of 2 hours is another $26, and an hourly fee after that, monorail is additional, as...More

We went on a week day which was good because it wasn’t crowded but there weren’t many food options as most of them were closed. All the areas were super clean and the animals seem to be well taken care off. My favorite were the...More

I never imagined this was going to be a dud. Very few animals. You pay the entrance (around $15 per adult) and then you have to pay different rides or visits inside the zoo because they are not included in the entrance fee (about $5...More

This is a great zoo! When my teenagers searched Trip Advisor Top10 things to do in Miami, they chose the Zoo. We were happy we did. We’ve never seen the peddle cars to get around at a zoo-what a nice touch. They also honored the...More

This is my second time but the first time for the Asian exhibit. We went in the afternoon time, and we rent a bike because the time won’t help to see them all, especially that it is a larg zoo. If it would be your...More

In my opinion, food provision was poor, just at the end, I suppose, of off season. There were, as I recall, two, perhaps three, restaurant/cafes opening well after the zoo itself. That leaves a number of stalls most of which... More
