Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you have half an interest in military history this is a must if you are in the area.
A small museum but packed with interesting exhibits displayed with care.
What was particularly well done was the personal stories of the artefacts donated to the museum. It really tells the story behind the uniform.

This was a great museum with knowledgeable docents. It took about one hour to tour. They had a lot of exhibits spanning from revolution through world War 2. We were fascinated by the military hanguns and rifles guns they had over these time periods. There were memorials outside for all serviceman lost in the major wars. There was a piece of the Arizona hull on the third floor.

Great collection of military items, memorabilia, uniforms, and equipment. Very cool experience. Enjoyed the interactive stuff a lot. There’s a helicopter cockpit out front that kids and adults alike seemed to enjoy. Also you can experience a working periscope! So cool to check that out.

This little hidden gem was great. I have a military obsessed 7 year old and he was in heaven to be up close and personal with all things military. Entry is free (donation box there). It’s a very simple a d informative place where you can spend an hour looking and reading. Very charming and away from the hustle and bustle of everything else in life. Worth a visit if ur in the area!

This museum is only a 10 minute drive from Cocoa Beach and is well worth the time. My 9-year-old daughter and I were out to kill time in the area, and I looked at the nearby museums on the GPS, and said, how about this place? I fully expected her to balk, but she was game, and we went.
We were both pleasantly surprised. It's right off the Merritt Sq. Shopping mall, and it has two military helicopters (one is a Huey...the other is unlabeled) and a 1950s tank in the entrance way. Inside, the (free!) museum has all sorts of military memorabilia going back to WWI.
Displays included weapons, uniforms, medals, and all sorts of military gear. We could have easily spent 60-90 minutes there.
The museum adjoins a walkway along the water, where we saw a small school of fish along with a 16-inch string ray, very similar to ones we'd seen in the zoo the day before, only this one was clearly worse for the wear. Living in the wild will do that to you, I guess.

The museum is small and full of memorabilia, the curator is fun to talk to. Would not recommend for children, but the memorial outside is quite another story. Helicopters, monuments, benches, a tank, right on the river... it's all full of wonder. Well maintained, and you may even buy a commemorative brick, as I did if you desire. Every war is represented... great way for young folks to grasp history. They are also in the process of building a great park next to it.

We spent the week at Cocoa Beach with cousins who were retired military. Coming home from lunch on Merritt Island they spotted a sign for Brevard Veterans Memorial Museum. We decided to visit. It was a small but very well displayed collection of military memories since WWI. My cousin found several of the actual uniforms he wore in the Navy. One room was devoted to a display of the bombing of Pearl Harbor. This was put together by a high school senior and very well done with pictures, models etc. My uncle was in Pearl Harbor at the time of the bombing so I was particularly interested. It was a wonderful surprise to see my uncle in a picture taken the day before the bombing standing with his barrack buddys . A few months later when talking with my Aunt I mentioned seeing my uncle (her husband) in the picture. She said, "Oh I would love to see that picture". I called the museum and they immediately agree to copy and send me the picture. It is free and well worth and hour of your time.

Since I reside in the immediate area, it was an honor several years ago to be present at this memorial to welcome then Presidential candidate Senator John McCain, on one of his straight talk bus tours. As a fellow Viet Nam era Navy veteran, I was proud to meet and be photographed with the Senator.
This facility contains a most complete museum of military artifacts and memorabilia.

If you are going to be in the Cocoa Beach area I strongly encourage you to take the opportunity to visit this museum. It is one of the most quality presentations of our military wars and history. They have truly taken the time to do this in great detail. If you wish, this could easily take an entire day to thoroughly experience it. We had less time and went through both the museum and the Library (as well as the outside service equipment used by our military) in about 2+ hours. There is so much incredible detailed information that you do not normally receive. We were all very impressed with the “examples that made it real” for us!! We agreed this would be one of those museums that you want to return to repeatedly.
